I picked up too many items it seems (64) and I'm overflowing. Can I please have a rollback as close as you can get to the time and date:

4:00AM Saturday [9/15/07] EST

Thank you for your continuing perseverance,

I will look into it.

*update*

I did not find any issues with your characters, both loaded just fine for me. If your really having issues then get to the character recovery map and drop some stuff. Otherwise I can give you a modified character with things I drop for you.

Not Sure

I went back to check the overflow and it only seems to happen on servers with higher pings. (I'm not sure how lag affects transmission of the CHAR data but it obviously does). I was able to connect to a low ping server and drop the necessary items. However, there must be something wrong if I am overflowing at 64 items. Do you have any suggestions as to which types of items increase your risk of overflowing? From what I understand, CHAR files are encrypted text files. Do "longer character strings" in your inventory directly translate to "longer encrypted strings"...? For example would picking up a "greater potion of protection" be more likely to bring you closer to the 4kb limit than say, a "short sword"? If I had a clearer idea of what is eating up mp CHAR file data, I might be able to optimize my inventory.
I have already been able to shave lots of items off of my total by consolidating all of my weapons into a single weapons strap, rather than all of their respective holders (dagger sheath, sword sheath, ax holster, hammer holster). Although I admit, I miss being able to organize weapons logically through the inventory interface. Also, getting rid of your small sack, and big sack can save you in your item count.
Any information would be appreciated.

I sometimes have problems like that with the servers with good pings. But that Revolution server with the bad ping is always a life saver and saves me the trouble of having to ask Blasto for a rollback! :D

I am not sure on what the real cause is, I know when it comes to data transfer the central sever is set to only buffer for 4kb. So it could just be that characters are breaking the central servers buffer, then causes what we would know as the character overflow.

though the thing that would disprove that is the fact that your character is only 3.03kb thus its smaller than the buffer.

I have been getting lots of overflows recently, but they aren't the character damaging ones. Its just from joining a laggy server, like he said. I find that going to an empty server and dropping some stuff then coming back gets the job done. You should always try char_recover before asking for a rollback.

...I just realized that with limited dedicated FN servers people will have a much harder time getting a char_recover server :? .

i could put up a listen char_recover if anyone needed it at a certain time, but not a dedicated.

I could host a 1 man server with only char recovery as the map, this way people can fix there characters. Because of no map change, and the fact the map is just a box. Shouldn't lag the other server at all.

Oh you foolish, foolish man. This is MasterSword - it could lag a super computer! ;-)

Our mainframes cannot handle lag of this magnitude!

that was helpful...

I won't do it if I don't see any need for it, I know how much CPU power it will consume depending on what it does. I sat and watched the numbers on my CPU for 10 minutes on each map with a full server. Hence why my server is only a 4 man. Daragoth is a computer killer.

NECROPOST! With a hint of REDUNDANCY!

Have some patience, or... *gasp* use the search function. It actually helps you find useful information.

Go ahead. Do it.
