So, what did Pimsta really do?!?

I'm just wondering what Pimpsta did to get all of this wrath from everyone. I've seen a post here and there saying "he's a cheater" but nothing that really proves anything. I know I was away for a few months and I've been playing again for the past month and somewhere in the first couple of weeks of playing again I learned he stopped playing. I remember he was telling me of a way that you could duplicate items, but that he worked/helped Thothie to stop that. He tried to show me the "cheat" to dupe items, and it didn't work. "See, it's fixed now. I helped Thothie fix it" he said. But now the fix makes problems. I've learned that you had better not load an alternate character to drop an item for you main, or vise versa, and disconnect right away, or you may very likely lose that item. I've seen it happen twice. And no, I don't care to dupe items. If I did I would have T3H L33t L00t. And yes, there is a good reason to give items to an alt, because one character can't hold much. Ever had your character overflow before and stop you from connecting to the server? I have and it sucks, so I give my alt items that I have already on my main so maybe I can trade/give it to someone in the future.

Anyways my point of this is that Pimpsta, when I met him before I stopped playing for a while, is a good enough guy. He's a good player ,fair with loot (ie doesn't ninja loot) and fun to play/talk with in game. It's sad that the people on this forums are so ready/eager to rip someone a new asshole for cheating. Did he cheat as bad as Acehigh? I only say that because I've seen Acehigh drop some unusual items in a server I was playing in and bragging about cheating in the items and arguing with Jelly.

So please give me the hard evidence and not the B.S. "he's a cheater 'cause I think so", or "someone told me this and that" posts. If you really don't know, because you've never seen it, then please STFU and don't reply to this thread.

And yes I'm not entirely clearheaded right now... it's near 4am and I've had too many beers and have nothing better to do since the new FN password change and there are no servers worth playing on right now...

Hes a cheater because he made custom builds of the game to get loot that was unobtainable at the time. He, and half of GoW, had thunder axes before it was possible to get them (the chest was broken).

when people get punished its for a good reason, I always investigate to my fullest when it comes to punishing people. I may mess up once or twice and punish someone who doesn't need it but I can always correct it.

I don't do things the way I do because of popular demand, I do them to try and better the game. The reason for the password change was to stop people creating listen servers, specially invisible ones. I have a lot of people I have to keep tabs on this cuts down on that number and keeps honest people honest.

*sigh* Probably a good thing, as I suspect having the most hated man in the community heading up the code for the MS:S project would cause "friction" in the long run, but he did at least manage to get the HL2SDK to compile which, up until a few days ago, was as close as I've ever seen to progress.

So, he was allowed to cheat (or maybe led to believe it's ok). Then thrown to the all so eager forum wolves for it because he's not liked very much, over an item. An ITEM!?!? Do we all really care so much what someone else really has? I meant I want the cool items too, but I'm not going to go rabid at the mouth over someone having an ITEM that I don't have, that doesn't make him/her a god. Hmm, also isn't the ones who really want him gone are the ones who are in other guilds? Didn't some members of other guilds join his? No, it couldn't be that... I mean no-one could be be that petty.

I've been told before that Pimpsta has had problems with other players in game and forums. So what else is new, we all don't get along. I've run into a dick head or two in the game. So don't play with them or ignore them. Oh, that's right... this is a small community with very few servers, so it's not so easily done. But how many of you can say he's personally screwed you over, like item stealing or getting you killed over and over again?

I apologize. I've been under a bit of stress lately, and I've noticed I've made a few extremely annoying posts here in the last few days. I'll make sure it doesn't happen anymore.

I'm not trying to beat a dead horse here. Pimptsa's obviously left the game and anything we could say here is ex post facto by default. However, I've noticed a lot of people, in context to various correspondences with Pimpsta, have remarked about "what an idiot he is" based on his English grammar or content.
I think this is pretty unfair to Pimpsta considering he's been completely deaf for his entire life and has never even heard a vocal conversation between 2 humans in any language, let alone English (which is a grammatical nightmare, I know I'm an ESL teacher). He's just begun learning English and probably, as with most disabled people, didn't want to remind everyone with every post that he's disabled.
I guess what I'm trying to say here is that this community seems pretty intolerant of people who deviate from the modus operandi of a select few any way. I know from playing with Pimpsta that his mode of communication isn't the most eloquent. However, as an English teacher, I don't see any "grammar superstars" shining out in these forums either. There's no way to dismiss any wrongs that Pimpsta has personally visited upon any of the members here. But flaming people about things that most of you don't even do correctly (specifically, grammatical syntax) is the pretty low. Even worse considering this was a chance for this community, if it is a righteous as it assumes, to out alleged cheats and so forth without completely smearing a disabled person for the faults of his/her own disability.
I'm not trying to condemn anyone's actions specifically. I'm just trying to suggest that the community might benefit from fewer part-time grammar teachers and a little more patience with newer people, whose backgrounds and special needs may remain yet unknown.

Heh, just gotta say here that I saw that you made some mistakes in your grammar...But point besides...
Deaf or not, that doesn't give you the right to be an ass...Grammar isn't an issue as much as it used to be, and even so being deaf has nothing to do with how you type. And sure, he may have had horrible grammar, but so do many, many others here. The continued usage of his statements for humorous purposes was not due to his disability, but the fact that he was an ass, and he violated the trust of the devs by cheating. Moreover, he simply left and didn't apologize, because, I assume, he knew he royally fucked up, but couldn't swallow his pride. Incidentally, I do know where you got your phoenix armor from, so I would consider your opinion biased.

The reason for Pimpsta's lack of social skills, emotional control, or English, be it deafness, child abuse, or just genetic jerkoffitis, while pitiable, doesn't make it any easier for the community (or the world) to deal with him. I suspect in RL he gets it easier, as someone who's obviously deaf gets a bit of leeway to be bitter, emotionally distressed, and difficult to communicate with, in the same way someone with Dow syndrome, or any other disability receives the same leeway and special treatment.

Sadly that coddling likely left him ill prepared for life on the internet, where all pity for disability drops away as it isn’t there staring you in the face, and you only get the person and not the reason for that person’s state of mind. It doesn’t matter why you are a horses ass around here, just that you are one.

He lashed out at a lot of people who never did anything to him as well (mostly first time posters asking questions), and again, while his disability may let such displays of misplaced anger and bitterness slide in RL, here, it only increased the tirade of hate against him that had already built to epic proportions. He antagonized the community before it turned against him and became a vicious cycle of hate he couldn’t keep up with, simply because he was outnumbered and couldn't let anything slide. (No doubt being so unaccustomed to criticism or the standard barbs people normally throw at one another.)

Regardless, the kid made his own bed, and set it on fire, now he has to lie in it.

Maybe he'll learn something about how to treat other people from the experience, and how people in real life maybe dancing on egg shells around him without his realizing it, I dunno. For the sake of those who know him personally, I hope so.

Many here don't live in the U.S. Many here are still students. We can't all be English teachers, but on the other side of the coin, we aren't illiterate either. Deaf does not = illiterate. In fact, being that he can't talk or listen, communicating via writing should be an important aspect of his life. He should be BETTER at writing than most of us, being that he needs to rely on it more.

We had already "outed" the cheat he had been using, and how is cheating a fault of his disability? He cheated. Also lied. Does lieing and deafness go hand-in-hand as well? He didn't get punished for being handicapped, he got punished for cheating and lieing. We didn't miss any chance to "out a cheat", and we got to make fun of a retarded asshole to boot. Win/Win.

Yes, when it is newer people who have special needs we don't know about it may be a different story. However, Pimpsta wasn't "new" and his "special needs" weren't unknown to us either. An ass is an ass, whether it be deaf, blind, retarded, pregnant, or whatever, it doesn't matter.
