Yeah, it is kinda hard to explain, but I installed the February version of MS:C and I do not know where the file is to delete it.   So I tried installing the newer version (June version) and it just goes back to the February version. Can anyone help out?

You need them both.

Head down to: http://www.msremake.com/download.php

Download 1.11 full installer (ie. FEB2008) - this file is about 336MB. Install it.

Then you need to download the JUN2008a patch from the same site. It's about 35MB.

Do not download MSC patches or installers from any other source.

AND TO THE REST OF YOU: Stop direct-linking patches and/or installers, as that's the #1 source of installer confusion. Tis bad enough we got so many rogue MSC entries in the Moddb, each with illegitimate downloads of their own.

Should be in:

C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\Steamapps\(your steam account name)\hl

Delete the folder called MSC

Install 1.11 Feb2008

install patch Jun2008

NOTE: Make sure steam isn't running. The installer tell you this, and for good reason. It will mess up your game(mostly stops itfrom appearing in games list until deleted and reinstalled)

EDITNOTE: We should make a comprehensive install guide and Q&A for this stuff

You shouldn't need to uninstall/delete anything though - the patches are all designed to work on top of one another.

Close Steam first, to make sure the file handles are released, and thus the files can be overwritten.

If Steam is properly installed, the installers should find the proper install directory on their own - if not, I suggest reinstalling Steam. Otherwise the default program folder tends to be c:\program files\Steam\steamapps\<your_steam_account_name>\half-life\msc\ - however, the exact install path can vary with the source of your Steam install.

Mind you, you need to have Half-Life 1 (or some package that includes it) installed first, and it is recommended that you run the training course to make sure all its components download.
