That happened to my screen when I reinstalled MSC under the new directory location (under the common folder). Has anyone else experienced this before? Any ideas on how to fix it? I can't play the game at all like this.

Well that's a new one... Maybe you've been staring at the sun too long?

It looks as though Half-Life's OpenGL system maybe corrupt - either due to a mixed install or some modification - assuming it's not some new found incompatibility with your graphics card. (Though if you're standardized ATI/nVidia, this seems unlikely.)

Might try this cleaning procedure:
• Close Steam
• Cut and move your old username/half-life folder (from its root), to some temporary directory outside of Steam
• Delete all the files and folders in common/half-life
• Open Steam
• Verify Half-Life's Integrity (Right click on Half-Life in your game library, click properties, click Local Files)
• Go make a sammich while you wait for download
• Launch Half-Life (open New Game->Training Room)
• Close Steam
• Reinstall MSC full installer and betapack

If you are using an unusual graphics card, such as Optimus, you might look into Dridje's Fix first.

Didn't work. I've recently updated my nVidia drivers, could that affect OpenGL?

Could - how is raw Half-Life running? (also, of course, try disabling the bloom [ ms_bloom_level 0 at console or via advanced options ])

It was bloom after all. Thanks a lot for this.

Yet another reason why bloom should be disabled by default.

But this is stoned, hard to find someone like him these days. :wink:
