Hi all I recently put my dedicated server back up and it is having issues with spawn points for players. The only time I have seen it spawning people outside of the map is on thornlands so far, but I am told it did it on other maps as well. Perhaps I Installed something wrong, heres the list of how I installed things for the dedicated server folder:

MS:C
MS:C Map Updates from Thothies main page
The custom maps from thothies
The JAN 2008 full beta package

The server runs fine and connects to FN fine, but just some spawn point issues and apparently now mobs not respawning or triggering events correctly. I made sure i installed the VS2005 libraries and patched the maps each time within my dedicated folder. And i made sure I patched when steam was shut down.

Any Suggestions?

I know its simple im just saying it didnt say anywhere in the tutorial for setting up a server that you would need to update your maps with that .bin or .exe thing, all it said to do was patch maps.

One would assume when ye updated your server with a betapack, one would wish to update one's map as well. The installer gives you the option in case you've already done it, or gone about it some other way.

Thothie, I think I know what he's on about.

The installer (for me at least) has never worked with that "Do you want to update maps?" If I click yes, a DOS window appears for about half a second then vanishes. I have to browse directly to my maps folder and run the update file there.

That should not be the case - it should just run it from there. Although - hmm... I wonder if those "@" commonly found in Steam folders are fugging with the installer's mind... Wait... no... If that was the case, you'd never be able to update at all. :\ Hmm...

One thing that has messed up stuff is the past is the "." in the email address of old accounts (New accounts are done by name not email if I remember correctly?). When I used to attempt to map, the . used to screw up where the files went as it saw it as a file exstension not a folder, the only way around it was to install the mapping tools to a different location.

Everything else updates fine, and it works fine if I run it from the maps folder. Not sure why it doesn't work from the installer option.

Well this time around I just stuffed in the BSP's of the maps modified since JAN2008a - so you don't need any DOS-window installer thing - but that is, assuming you had it working before.

The updater runs within the maps folder itself, so ripent and hlcsg shouldn't be affected by paths with "@" in them (some versions of Steam use the whole e-mail address in the path) - the installer itself might be - but if it was, again, it wouldn't install anything at all. So I've never managed to figure why so many people have trouble with it. My only guess is that they are trying to install programs in guest mode, or otherwise have strange configs or anti-virals on their computer or some such - most of our players seem to update fine though.
