Stupid-ass report

I hate typing stupid-ass reports.

This is total idiocy; the guidelines for a specific part of the report I'm typing right now are basically:
1) Describe the results you gathered in your experiments very briefly.
2) Describe the results you gathered in your experiments in great detail and make sure they're part of one big, continuous story.

Those two obviously conflict.

But there's more!
1) Don't use numbers in the description of the results.
2) Add graphs and/or tables wherever you can to clarify your results and the descriptions thereof.

Those two also conflict, seeing as how the only thing I can possibly stuff in the graphs/tables for this specific research are numbers.

What the hell. Indecisive bastards.

I haven't had any reports like that this year, but I remember last year my teacher made us type reports but then quiz us on things that had nothing to do with it.

Have you ever had to write a report on why you think we shouldn't have to write reports? I had to once. We had to write two pages, some odd number of words on why we didn't think it was fair to have to write reports. (mind you this isn't college stuff here, I'm a lot younger than most of the forum goers here. But my teachers have made me write some retarded stuff before..)

J-M, I know what you mean. Sometimes, teachers, Profs, and the likes will give an assignment without any clear instructions, then expect you to make a miracle come out of your ass.
I'd prefer not to list any of the more than BS work I've received before... as I had passed those classes with perfect marks (A's aka 98-to-100% grades) anyways. Teachers can't stump me with their blind-sighted actions.

Hehehe... tehrilez, two pages isn't college grade work... that might not even beat middle schoolers...
For a brother of mine going for his P.h.D in EE, right now, he generally whips out twenty-to-sixty page essays, depending on what his Profs want. If they are vague, he'll give them everything just to satisfy them. If they are specific, he gets to the point, and enforces that point with lots of details.

For me, being in High School, still... I only write up fifteen or twenty page long essays, when I care. Teachers are usually more than satisfied with an eight page essay, though, so I get to relax, a lot. Considering I can type over two hundred words a minute, without any mistakes in spelling, punctuation, etc... it only takes me about half an hour to make a moderately long essay, too. ^^

Aye, and sometimes they are just bastards when describing things...and then not sticking to them.

My senior year (last year) I took sociology and just about EVERYTIME we'd have a report to write, the teacher would hand out the sheets containing all the guidelines and crap that we needed. Being some kind of "go to guy" for my friends, I had read 4 other people's papers (req was 5 - 10 pages long) with the sheet right next to me, checking off to make sure they did everything.

Noone even got a C. He said we all missed the point and we all could've done better and there was no arguing with him, or any other staff (besides the teacher who used to teach sociology going "Well...he is a dick isn't he")

Papers suck, end of story. And anything above 10 pages is pretty much the teacher just taxing one's ability to write a paper, and not the quality of the paper itself (Firm belief that I took from my English teacher of 30 years)

So I finished this dumbass paper in which I had to repeat everything I did about three times, and I'm happy right now.

Heheh. Take some marijuana, J-M. They proved, beyond a doubt, that marijuana is less harmful than Tylenol. In-fact, a Switzerland study showed that kids who smoked marijuana (but don't do any other drugs) turn out more active, and more intelligent, than kids who didn't or did more than just that.

it was 6th grade which here is elementary school so yeah, 2 pages isn't much. but our teachers don't make us write too much, too many kids from the ghetto and whatever. Don't want to "challenge" us (and even these kids are failing the dumbed down classes) and its friggen ridiculous. The only semi-challenging class I have is honors math and even that isn't too hard.

Heh, whenever I get a retarded prompt I just turn in an overly retarded bullsh*t paper. I have submitted some pretty ridiculous stuff, most memorable would be a 5 page essay on Cathy Ames from East of Eden... I'll try to find the .doc on my computer >.>.
