Was thinking that now that crossbows were rebalances because of the new steam crossbow, there could be a rehauling of the weapon class, so I came up with 2 ideas:
IDEA #1
-Crossbows having varying "magazine" sizes and movement speed:
idea is that xbows can fire varying amounts of arrows (separate bolt lading between bolt types) before having to reload, followed by recoil which changed with bolt type and crossbow.
Also crossbows could no longer let you run, only go al walk speed at most.
Example:
Common Crossbow.
move speed: fast
capacity:
wooden bolts: 5 (Recoil: none)
iron bolt: 4 (recoil: none)
steel bolt: 3 (recoil: high)
dwarven bolts: 2 (recoil: very high)
Heavy Crossbow
move speed: normal
wooden bolts: 3 (recoil: none)
iron bolt: 3 (recoil: none)
steel bolt: 5 (recoil: some)
dwarven bolts: 3 (recoil: high)
Steam Crossbow
move speed: slow
wooden bolts: 15 (recoil: normal)
iron bolt: 10 (recoil: normal)
steel bolt: 10 (recoil: high)
dwarven bolts: 5 (recoil: very high)

-customizable crossbow parts with end results that affect bolt capacity, move speed and recoil.
Basically means separating each crossbow into 3 parts: stock, frame and "barrel".
