Suggestion: crossbows revamp

Was thinking that now that crossbows were rebalances because of the new steam crossbow, there could be a rehauling of the weapon class, so I came up with 2 ideas:

IDEA #1
-Crossbows having varying "magazine" sizes and movement speed:

idea is that xbows can fire varying amounts of arrows (separate bolt lading between bolt types) before having to reload, followed by recoil which changed with bolt type and crossbow.
Also crossbows could no longer let you run, only go al walk speed at most.


Example:

Common Crossbow.
move speed: fast
capacity:
wooden bolts: 5 (Recoil: none)
iron bolt: 4 (recoil: none)
steel bolt: 3 (recoil: high)
dwarven bolts: 2 (recoil: very high)

Heavy Crossbow
move speed: normal
wooden bolts: 3 (recoil: none)
iron bolt: 3 (recoil: none)
steel bolt: 5 (recoil: some)
dwarven bolts: 3 (recoil: high)

Steam Crossbow
move speed: slow
wooden bolts: 15 (recoil: normal)
iron bolt: 10 (recoil: normal)
steel bolt: 10 (recoil: high)
dwarven bolts: 5 (recoil: very high)

IDEA #2
-customizable crossbow parts with end results that affect bolt capacity, move speed and recoil.

Basically means separating each crossbow into 3 parts: stock, frame and "barrel".

Interesting... Few things:

• Can't affect the move speed on the Steam Crossbow, as it is off the standard weapon registration system.
• The move speed is "fixed" for the other two bows, as they are on the standard weapon registration system.
• Can't affect the clip size on the Steam Crossbow, as it is model dependant.
• I could affect the clip size on the other two, by adding a longer firing delay when the "clip ends" but there's no intuitive animation for this, as the models are obviously not clip driven.
• You forgot to add the dreaded "Holy Bolts". ;)

I might be able to track crossbow modifications on individual crossbows using the Quality attribute, which seems to save into inventory (similar to how potions keep track). You wouldn't be able to bank your crossbow, if I did it that way though (bank no save Quality/Drinks remaining, only script names). Other option is just to make lots of script variants, I suppose.

PS. Blah... Wegame wants $8/month for HD recording... Fraps now smashes my entire system... Anyone have any other good video capture proggies for video games?

Perhaps different kinds of crossbow that have differing rates of fire or enhanced/reduced damage for different types of bolts, as is in monster hunter, although this would be hard to balance as in monster hunter you can only have one bowgun at a time. Some quest limity thingy? Just throwing this out there.

in an unrelated note Fer doth thou play monster hunter tri?

lol now that the steam crossbow is stronger.... can we get some of the haX back into hXbow?... easier to do than clipsize and what not..

on a side note... this sept update seems to have the hXbow actually glitch a lot more... like missing bolts.. or is that just me?
