Okay, so I know summoning is a controvercial topic... an MS:C taboo if you will. To exp for summoning or not to exp for You get the idea.
I was just having a ton of fun playing with the venom claw potion and I was wondering if it is possible to make a scroll or tome to do the same thing. A summon spell that gives you a temporary weapon, it'd cost a bit of mana, but have advantages. These summoned weapons would give you exp for summoning and if it is an elemental summoning then it would also advance that element.
I know that this idea isn't the most practical, why go for a summoned short sword rather than a real one? I'm not sure, but it would be very awesome.
An actual summoning skill wouldn't really be needed to be implemented if that is too much effort, it could be just like summon undead is right now. Perhaps even make transformation spells? One transformation spell that came to mind (ripping off EQ classic) is:
Undead Form (requires level 12 spell casting) (costs 30 mana)
-(Spell casting level) health per 15 seconds
+(Spell casting level) mana per 5 seconds
Normal left click would be a melee attack
First charge Requires Spell casting 12: A melee attack that drains 10% of the damage it deals (costs 10 mana)
Second charge Requires Spell Casting 16: A strong bolt (like a strong ice bolt) that steals 50% of the damage it deals (costs 60 mana)
Right click Requires Spell casting 20: creates a circle on the ground that stuns enemies upon cast for 2 seconds and drains minor health over time to enemies that are in the circle (Costs 120 mana)
+(Spell casting level) ice resistance
+(Spell casting level) poison resistance
-20% fire resistance
-20% lightning resistance
-100% holy resistance (seriously we need bad guys that do holy damage )
Ok, simple enough weapon? It would be exactly like a normal weapon but it would be cast to activate, not sure if that is impossible or not, but it seems like it should be.
Edit: made it slightly more presentable, fingers crossed for comments
Don't be afraid to crush my heart and tell me how bad an idea is.
