Edit: You might need to look a bit higher or lower than you'd expect. When at first the chest doesn't open, just look a bit higher or lower and try again.
It's like the keyhole in calruin2, but alot less worse. But still, it can happen that you just look too low or too high when you try to open the chest.
What new arrows? I thought they weren't in-game yet (in the pre-release of the September 1st patch).Thothie said:Speaking of resized hit boxes - how are those new arrows working out? Helping at all? Never did hear back about that. (They seem to help on my listenserver tests...)
( and of those of you who have the leak, how is the item sweeper working? )
It *may* also fix people stealing stuff from people they killed / who died near them... Obviously I've had no chance to test that. I really wish I could figure a way to read the ms_pklevel flag from the server to toggle that on and off. (I'll have to search for it in the code...)Also, the item sweeper thing... if that's the thing that prevents the 0x0x0 bug, it appears to be working.
As for the arrows... They've been in there awhile now... (I mentioned it in the arrow thread which is... somewherez around here...). If you extract the beta pack to a temp folder you'll see a new arrows model with a larger hitbox in models/weapons/bows.What new arrows? Last bit should mention it works in Win2k as well, but no biggie, since it seems you can at least find your steam dir. (which is more than most people can do)!readme_mapupdates.txt said:Unzip this entire archive to your msc/maps folder (overwrite existing files)
Then run the batch file:
"msc_map_updates"
and follow the instructions.
Note: You will need about some free drive space, to make room for backups.
Keep note of these backups, as the developers will modify maps and code, and that may negatively affect these updates.
If you are not sure where your msc/maps folder is,
this patch maybe a bit advanced for you.
However, to help those befuddled by Steam,
I've included a batch file called:
"find_steam"
Run that, and it should tell you where your msc maps folder is.
The find_steam batch file requires Windows XP. (the updater does not)
