I'd rather have titles given based on registration date, or simply custom titles.

Post counts don't destroy forums. People who spam the forums and only post for their count destroy the forums.

That was my point... It invites for destruction.

Of course the post count alone isn't going to do anything.

The "guns don't kill people. People kill people"-philosophy doesn't quite hit it, seeing as removing post counts eliminates the problem.

Surely removing people and +1 posts is more demanding than removing the post count entirely?

I find it lacks any real purpose.

Of course, spammers will be spammers, and useless posts will appear anyway, but with no post count, there's little encouragement than the sheer pleasure of being an annoyance to the others.

I'd like to be able to edit my own title. I've seen plenty of forums (one I admin included) which don't let you edit your own, but is based on the whim of the admins. >

You might not notice the "danger" post counts possess now, but if we ever get anywhere near a community as large as say, VN Board... there's +1s in about every thread.

I think they allow for custom titles, though. Or perhaps that was for paying customers.

The forums aren't about the post counts and titles, but those two can quickly become a major factor.

But the forum is not my field in this matter. I simply use it to read other people's opinions, comments and suggestions to the game, and throw in my own ideas and see what comes out of it.
