looks like a dumbed down version of fallout tactics, not like that would be a bad thing. I will be checking this game out, looks like it could be fun.

well, fallout tactics is really a dumbed down version of X-COM, gameplay wise (i know because xcom is the best tbs ever) the company that owned xcom went bankrupt, and no one picked up the IP, so its ok to download it (morally at least, no one would get the money from sales other than the seller anyway)

my point is, though, play it and see why it's the best =D

hmm if its more complex then fallout tactics then I may not enjoy it has much, one of the reasons why I liked the fallout games so much was the combat system with its simplicity. Yet it was complex due to different scenarios that you could set yourself in.

Though I should stop talking about how much I will and will not like it and just play it. :D

Wow, it's X-Com... I miss that game. Gave me one of my few hopes for mankind, "Retarted aliens invade the planet." ;)

I finally got around to playing it a bit, most defiantly has a learning curve to it.

though not having a hex grid to play on bugs the hell out of me I like being able to count out my steps but thats just me.

in UFO2000 you can hold ctrl and it will display how many time units you will have left at each step you take.

That's been out for a long time, 2004 according to Abandonia. Never tried it but x-com was fun. I found it to be hard and I don't think I'm too bad at tbs's.

Some review links for those interested:
UFO2000
X-COM (UFO - Enemy Unknown)

and links to 2 and 3 at the bottom of the x-com review.

yea, thats a pretty dated review. the last update for the game was some time in 2007, and by that time it had more custom content than orignal x-com stuff, new races (including the cryssalid, and the zombies that come as a result =P), and because of all of the custom content, it does not require any other game to be played.
