Anyone know if there is an update/upgrade for Microsoft's Visual 6.0? I have Visual C++ 6.0 but cannot open .sln files.

Yea but, I don't want to pay. I was hoping there was an update for 6.0 to be compatible with 2003/2005 or even 2008 Oasis (forget when its coming out)

There is no way to convert projects down, except for taking all the source files, making yer own project, adding the required libraries, etc.

2008 Orcas (thats its name) the beta for it just came out... Its around 5 gigs though, so i'll get it on CD next year (or later this year)

Orcas, sorry. And Express edition blows hard. Shuriken I have looked/downloaded everywhere and could not get it to work, or it was a hoax.

Ask MiB if he can send you a copy of VS2003. I've no idea where he got his, but I suspect it is very distributable. >_>

But I'm fairly certain you won't find anyway to make V6.0 compatible with VS2003 or 2005, save maybe, if you are lucky and find a third party utility or crack, as that would defeat the purpose of releasing a new version.

I've also, thus far, been unable to find anyone who can get MSC to compile in VS2005, so backwards compatibility is similarly dicey. I suspect incompitence more than greed in that case though.

UPDATE!!

Have 2003 now but I get an error saying, "Your project file version is '8.00'. Visual Studio .NET can only load version 7.0 and 7.1 project files.

Fix?

Open the .vcproj WITH NOTEPAD and fine the line with "Version=" and change the 8 to a 7.10
