You start out in a large cave with a very high ceiling, full of orcs and trolls. There is a catapult at the other end of the cave.

You must destroy the gears, which in turn shuts off the catapult.

Once that is complete, a large iris door that is near by will open, due to magic of some sort. You will only manage to fall into a trap, a group of two spider queens and their minions. You must defeat them.


Once that is over, a ladder will spawn in the first room you started in. You climb that, leading to a small hole in the wall you couldnt reach before hand. Now you see it leads to some tunnels.

Head through those to defeat several orcs and shamans blocking your way.

You end up at a split in the tunnel, you can either go left or right, with markings on the walls signifying which boss is which direction. When you have made your decision, the other door to the other boss will close, causing you to have to start over, to defeat the other.

There will be two boss monsters, you will choose between the greater ice reaver or greater fire reaver. I have no idea what the reward is going to be.

This map would be for various levels, 30 for solo, 20 for two people, maybe even level 10 for three. Its designed to be an intermediate map.

I'll try my best, I'm trying not to put super hard monsters..

So far only orcs and trolls.

Here's an image of progress so far, its the main "room" or cave, whatever its gonna be. Yes, I used Thothies catapult thing. Thanks for that thoth!

Well not everything worked like I wanted it too, and the map is pretty dumb so far.

Dont watch unless you wanna see the catapult.

I seriously want to see more of this kinda stuff in more maps.

#1 thing I miss from ms 1.35 is the orc cart from helena's raid, without that cart, I wouldn't even bothered with that map.

welcome to the wonderful world of prefabs, where all your dreams come true.


Now that I have figured out prefabs, the map has become about.. 10 times more detailed?

And when it did, it could be brought to a screeching halt by an arrow in the path...Don't want those wooden wheels to run out of air ;)

New screen shots! Hurrah! You may have noticed im working mainly on the room I planned to be the second field. I've decided to make this the starting point and move the orcs and things that would have been in the first half AFTER this point.

Textures are what make or break a map.

No offense, but the way you handle textures currently is breaking your map.

On the vertical support beams of the platform, rotate the textures 90 degrees.
On the vertical support beams of the roof, rotate the textures 90 degrees.
On the diagonal support beams, use mathematics to calculate how many degrees you have to rotate the textures (although I'd guess about 35 degrees).

Same story with the vertical support beams, and the whole catapult thing could use some serious texture fixing here and there.

Rotate the textures on the top faces of the left and right wooden support things 90 degrees.

If you get your textures looking good and if you detail the terrain a bit more, this map could get some serious potential.

Add some varied textures too, I only see three so far :( You want a vibrant and diverse map, contrast is everything.

Those are old, I've been working for around 3 hours on this.


No pictures yet because im not quite finished.


When you destroy the gears, a series of pipes will explode near the wall it was propped up against. This will do a TON of damage, so get out of the way.

This will of course blow a hole in the map, leading to a mini boss, the spider queen.

When you kill her and her minions, the mining cart and tunnel to boss room will appear. You take the mining cart up, then must get off and continue manually through the pipe, where there will be scattered orcs, and a shaman or two cause you're getting higher in the map.

Once you've gotten past that, you'll end up at sort of a wooden elevator design, but one of which powered probably by magic and pullies because I suspect electricity hadn't been discovered yet. lol.

You take that down into the boss room.


I wish I had a custom boss script, because I retexured the reaver and I think it looks awesome, but I can't implement it. :oldcry:


No idea what the reward would be. I saw that someone was making a blade with two halves, and I was thinking I could make two bosses, a greater ice reaver and a greater fire reaver, each one causing you to have to redo the map to get the other halve of the sword. Dunno what would happen from that point on because I don't know how you would code two weapons merging.

That blade thing is mine and Shuriken's project, but I don't think it'll quite fit...If you finish your map, and get mdls for a boss, Thothie will probably script up a batch of goodness...But you have to have something finished first ;)

If you want any scripts you'll have to wait till the next patch to release this map because thats when the scripts made this month will be released. If you think its going to take you that long to make the map then feel free to make script requests.

Well, I DO have a model for a greater ice reaver

I suppose if I say, made the skin red/orange and spikes Blue, like the opposite of the ice reaver, I'd have myself a greater fire reaver as well :D

Things are coming along nice, ive fixed up the textures like J-M suggested, so things should be looking better. Right now im going to test and make sure all of the triggers work, have to make sure once you shut down the catapult that the proper doors open :wink:


And yes, I've added a mine cart. :oldlol:

I'm still deciding whether or not to make it futuristic/more magic like.

I have a few things I would like to use, like an iris door, and a large door with green lasers that scan you before entering. They were designed for half life but I could pass it off as.. ancient MS technology that was long forgotten! :D


Its like in oblivion with those elves that made laser swords and guns but disappeared into time.

Then again, the same things could be pulled off by magic. I don't know.

Thoughts?

P.S : THE IRIS DOOR IS BEYOND COOL

Now the more I think of it, the more I think of KOTOR. They had all of those stone doors and stuff that seemed to move just like every other door, but they were made of stone, not metal. I want that iris door, very badly, in my map. Blarg. :?
