a very simple map
has just a few sharks for now but i plan to add some fishes and see if i can find sea props like schools of fishes , whales etc. added some biolumiscent plants to light up the area a bit

Cool, make a cave with some air pockets, some ship wrecks and stuff :D

ship wreaks not a bad idea, except that i suck at making props... meh il borrow the deralia ship and modify it , thanks for the idea,
i asked thothie if he could make some item that prevents you from drowning but got no response

Nope - drowning is internal to the HL engine and there's no script function to deal capture it. However, I don't think Rejuvinate would register it as an attack, so you could probably heal drown damage.

I wonder if i can make some caves with air... but it seems complex

on a side note, a magic stone that heals you at same rate and same poins you lose with drowning, is that possible?., of course you must make sure to loose that stone once you are out of the map

howbout a spell that gives your air back...thothie, there was a prop or something i remember from entmod (in sven coop) that refilled your air while you were still underwater...mebbe that helps, iono...

Item_airtank, but it's an internal HL weapon/item, not a scripted one.

Yeaah - it's certainly possible through hard code - just saying not through the scripts in anyway I can think of atm.

Bah I think using rejuv is all good, and I can confirm that drowning doesn't make the spell fizzle. Only if it's not a low level place, or all the newbs will drow and ask questions like "How can you last so long underwater? What's that strange green glow around you? Where can I get rejuv? Why can't I use rejuv?" lol

Well, I think drowning damage doesn't increase, does it? (I don't drown a lot)

You could always have a trigger_hurt -(drowningdamage)

It shouldn't be hard to add caves... But maybe a bit beyond Little G.

Looking it over a bit closer, I *can* tell when a player is under water... But I can't tell when he's taking damage from drowning in anyway I can think of.

I'm not sure if game_take_damage responds to drowning damage. If it does, I may be able to rig something up that where, if the player is under water, and he takes damage, and if the thing that does the damage is not flagged "alive" (ie. is not an MSC ent), it'd refund his health... But, meh, very iffy.

MiB - what about when they're not drowning...

i vote for caves, and maybe some neat little things that give your air back...since they've got to be in the map itself...

If it's all under water, they would always be drowning (minus the first 30 seconds or whatever. Free health)

cool so free health when u are being attacked?? ....

it would be a good transition map from a certain human city to another place.

and when u travel on a boat, u have a 50/50 or 30/70 chance of being attacked and must swim.

It wouldn't be free health because it would be balanced with the damage being down by drowning -.-


I really didn't think this was that hard of a concept, but sheesh...

People will abuse this for like... afkn on the map, making it worst than easylevels2!!! They let themselves drown, get healed, then LET the shark bite them.... THIS is a bad idea!!!

Unless you can *SOMEHOW* do this & make the scripted healing thingy cut off when an MSC ALIVE thingie attacks the player :D
Kinda like current rejuevenation, eh?

....What the hell are you talking about...If people are hit by a shark, rejuvination goes away...It's no different than if someone went afk in Daragoth...If you meant to quote what he said LATER (the thing about not taking damage from something that isn't alive), it wouldn't have anything to do with the shark...

a clip brush blocks the surface, so you cant go upside
i added a ship wreck with a leech and some props
maybe this could be a % transition from deralia?

anyway it looks good so far... compiling right now...
unfortunally i had to can alot of the ship since decompile messes it up...
but meh its a shipwreck, i just have problems with making caves with air...
its not going to be easy, actually i suck making any complex terrain thingy, anyway im gonna release source asap so someone can work on it if they want

if it is a transition from deralia, you need to be traveling by ship in the beginning part of the map.

to Jm: i copy stuff because it is supposed to be a transiction map
to bbarnum: would be a bit hard making the ship travel then crash down in the sea

there are ways to making a ship break and stuff, but if you did find out how and my idea worked, there coudlnt be a clip brush when u fall into the water. no one here is jesus

well there is another matter, i dont have a workign edition of the ship, only a broken version and thothie refused to help

looks like u have to make a new one?

decompiling, remember, is only to see how other mappers did things, not to steal work
