Also, at least according to this map, Bloodrose doesn't even connect to Aleyesu at all. Why not just 'pretend' that those ruins in bloodrose are actually the ruins of the city Melanion? It would be nice if that transition didn't go straight to the heart of melanion, though, but rather the outskirts. Then connect the outskirts to the ruins itself and that region will appear much larger.
That would be because said map is ancient. Predates Aleyesu, amongst others. The map in the betamap thread is more accurate, although still a bit out of date. The distance between the maps, even there, isn't accurate. They are spread out that way mainly just to make room for them all and for their names remain legible.

Melanion's connection is already in Bloodrose - it's that mine gate that opens up near the front entrance. Melanion is buried underground, beneath Eswen Sylen and Kray Eldorad. Presumably you'll deal with some mines and tunnels before you hit the more spectacular buried ruins, but I wouldn't expect it to drag out for more than one map - although Eswen Sylen and Kray Eldorad both will likely have some underground sections that connect to it.

Bloodrose was supposed to have more stuff for low to mid level folks to do around the surface. Alas, Foamy got carried away in the caves, so there wasn't much in the way left of entity space.

Looking at the MSS map, I guess the elves blew a hole in the mountains around Blood Rose, being sick of having to brave Melanion to reach to the human empire.

And when custom maps will be allowed (mostly islands, and other continents)

Other continents? I thought there where only supposed to be two, Daragoth and Valen. I agree with Oyster we need to fill darahoth in more to make it seem larger, daragoth as depicted by that concept map looks really small and boring.

A planet is a large place, who knows how big Leann is, it could be even larger than planet Earth, leaves plenty of room for more continents, however currently Dreadwind and Valen are the ones i plan to be mostly for new maps.

The place where Lor Malgoriand was defeated canonically in Mss is in Dreadwind.

Always wanted an icy continent though.

A month later...
I only have one problem with the map, if someone lavishes that much skill upon a map, shouldn't they at least come up with something more creative than mountains to use as borders? I mean, simple things such as rivers, lakes, impassable forests or deserts full of quicksand, could be used as a more creative alternative. Sure, mountains can be used, but not that excessively. It looks as if the towns and etc were all laid out, then mountains conveniently rose out of the ground around them.

Please do not take offense to this, but take it as constructive criticism.

Eh?
This is a random question but is the Palace of Shahaed Lor Malgoriand's castle? Cause I've always thought that but never knew for sure.

We still do, well, mountains and ocean - maybe some endless desert... But I dun think he was comparing it to MSC.

Thinking he was complaining about the content of the map rather than the quality of the drawing of it.

Meh, even if we had a cartographer as good as this gal (and I think we likely do, in Rickler, from his teaser), we've got over 40 interconnected maps to squeeze in such a small space, I think it'd be neigh impossible to pull off and make look good.

Heh I would've said the same thing about the MS map, if I had been around at the time to give it some critique before release. But with this there's still time to change or improve parts of the MSS map, and I direly hope they do, this is something that's been irking me even in top market rpg's like WoW, Oblivion, and many many others.

It's possible, but it requires multiple maps, I think. An overall world map, and then regional maps to fit in all the specific details. That would be alot of work, probably, but god it would be awesome if it were pulled off.

Also, I agree with lock that more creativity could be used in creating natural barriers.

One of me buddies gave me this program, which may do the trick... Although, looking it over, in addition to being somewhat difficult to use, I don't think it actually has a function for exporting zoom'able flash maps like the one they show off there. Nevermind the fact that only the gods know when I'll have the time to play with it.
