Tristan does not give a reward if you give him the mayor's letter.

Corpselights seem to have a nasty habit of killing people that still have mana.

(I died to them several times with ~360-370 mana)

I noticed with my test char that sometimes monsters have trouble reading MP levels above 368 or so. Didn't think it'd be a huge problem, as I think only you and a few of our more avid chinese and korean players have achieved such huge mana pools, but meh, I'll have to see what I can do... Maybe check SC levels, or... Something. :\ I'd blame lag, but even with all four on you, you should last a few seconds with a mana pool like that.

Also, Tristan probably shouldn't even be accepting said letter. >_> Probably some dev in ancient times copypasta'd Edrin's script when he made Tristan.

There are quite a few that have broken past 360-370, though :D

Not to mention Humansteak, who I just can't seem to surpass in SC.

That's odd.

He mentions some sort of paper he found on a dead body with answers to riddles on it.

If you go from bear form back to human form and then instantly holster your bear claws, the game will crash (fortunately, not the whole server you're on).

The teleporters in the Blacksmith Chamber of Calruin2 are invisible.

Edit:

Also seem to be getting fps problems once the easter egg is activated.

Most of the sprites were removde from Calruin2 to allow it to load.

There's a lot of animated textures and mirrors down there, but *shrug*.

I tried to spawn four vapors:

"params" "(230,230,230);256"
"params" "(255,170,65);256;fire;200"
"params" "(200,255,255);256;cold;100"
"params" "(100,240,120);256;poison;50"

None of them is showing up. The fire, cold and poison variants do damage me when I walk through where I spawned them, but all four vapors are invisible. Do you have any idea what's causing this?

Edit: spawning the vapors manually (with a shiny button) worked. I guess having them spawn on map startup doesn't work.

I can't test from here, but two theories is that 1) The entity is on the ground when it should likely be slightly above so as to give room for the sprites, 2) the map is fullbright, preventing the sprites from rendering.

Beyond that, something maybe wrong on the script end, but it works (or worked last I checked) in gertenheld_caves. The formatting looks right, but you can double check with the entity there.

edit: (Sees your edit) - Yeah... It won't work if it spawns with the map because there's no player to tie the CL effect to. I'd have to check the script, but it may not work for a player who joins after it spawns either - IIRC however, it repeats the effect every few seconds, so it should, in theory. If not, I'll have to fix the script. :\

edit2: Yes, this is the case. Fixed. CL effect will now refresh every 20 seconds, so even if spawned with map or late joined, it should be visible shortly thereafter, come next patch.

Ara's elite blackhand archers always GIB, making the map unbeatable. I'm talking about the ones that spawn before the bears part. If im correct there is supposed to be 2 waves of enemies there, each wave with 3 archers, 2nd wave wont spawn bc of those 3 archers gibbing upon death (also noticed them not giving any xp).

I've not seen that this patch. Granted I've only run Ara once since then.

This never happened to me.

If it helps i was using torkbow when i killed everything in that map. I'll rerun the map and test again but yesterday all 3 archers in 1st wave deeper in the map gibbed upon death, giving no xp and making that weird "crush" noise.

EDIT: Tried it out again, its the torkbow that gibs the orcs. I used tork frostbow and gibbed 1 to try it out, then used bear claws to finish the leftover wave and non gibbed.

I vaguely recall certain NPCs telling you about Geric and Vecilus and about the Circle of Seven, but I can't seem to get anyone to tell me about that anymore. I was just randomly interested in those stories just now, yet none of the dudes in the temple of balance, nor that guy outside the dark caves talks about it.
Has this dialogue been removed or something?

About the monsters gibbing, on this patch i used to see a bunch of monsters gib because of DOT, so maybe thats part of the cause.

Two of the priests in Edana will chat about it, but they aren't on the NPC interaction system, so you'll have to go up to them and say "rumor". They are very old scripts, so you may need to use the old british spelling "rumour". What they have to tell goes in the category of "slightly fubar lore that needs fixing" though, hence, never did bother tying it to the base chat system and updating them.

The Circle of Seven, by their account, was a set of orc blackhand shamans that sealed Geric's soul in his armor (an Urdualian Elf who went a step further and decided to serve Torkalath when his temple fell, and sought out the orcs), although the phrasing in the script makes no sense. "The Circle of Seven trapped his soul into his armor so they could use his rage on their berserkers." The cryer script also mentions the armor was forged and granted to him by Garonhroth when he first joined the orcs, but says this was during the Age of Blood.

Lord Vecilus was his brother, yet another Eshu Elf. He went to avenge Geric against the orcs. But the way the script phrases it, it sounds as though it were very recent, and that doesn't jell with Geric's undead state of being, nor of the current relationship between Garonhroth and the orcs. (Plus having an Eshu living in the Edana temple seems unlikely - presumably he'd go out and join with his forest cousin's sacred groves instead, or have been part of his brother's temple.)

Again, none of this was disabled, it just may not work right, or require use of the old chat system. Some of these older conventions that are broken entirely probably worked in MS 1.35.

There's a few other intersting bits in there that may not be accessible at all due to using pre MSC conventions (possibly even pre MS 1.35 conventions, in the case of some of these messed up scripts - some of which are just plain written wrong). There's also a few NPC's with contradictory lore that no longer appear in Edana at all (apparently never made it into MSC) - some of which I'm interested in bringing back in (including Suliban and the cryer). But cleaning all this lore crap up is on the list of things to do.

Gibbing seems to happen *sometimes* when a monster reaches exactly 0hp, and then is struck again. Since DOT's tend to repeat small amounts of damage, they may be more likely to cause it. Keep taking stabs at fixing this, and keep failing. It be code side work that's beyond me, sadly.

Not sure why going to exactly 0 hp would cause monsters to FUBAR, but I can add it to the list of things I say I'll look at, but will forget eventually.

Does the 25%-damage-reduction-against-undead-attacks feature of the Helm of the Dead still work anywhere...? I just tested it against a monster that does constant damage ("Guardian Archers" at the start of the_wall, 200.0 damage) and whether I wear the helm or not, the damage stays the same.

And there has never been any confirmation whatsoever >_>

It does not work against projectiles fired by the undead in the current patch.

...but It will in the next.

You shouldn't be able to drop spells even at full weight, sfaik... But "pick up glow" would be the "hands" for the spell, while "pick up glow scroll" is the scroll.

Don't know why it'd crash when at full weight, it's supposed to stop you from casting the spell. Did you have a BOH and have stuff outside of it that caused the char to be full weight?
