We keep getting reports of this - it only seems to happen to certain CPU models. Haven't figured what it is... Theory was that it had something to do with skeletons, as most of those maps are skeleton happy - but not all of them... The skeleton_base hasn't changed in ages, yet something odd is going on with them. They seem to be doing perma-death when falling face down, and when they aren't doing that, they often get up instantly, all of which is very odd. I'm probably going to have to re-write the whole base from scratch, but I dread to do it, as it'll affect like a hundred different monsters in hard to predict ways.

the dothan core is a core between netburst and core1 bassed cpu's, I'm wondering if you need very fast ram or a large cpu cache, larger then 1mb, for it to not lag so much. I've also noticed this on one or two other server as well like cyrez's server, it also lag spike on isle like mine does and eventually crashes on it. If I remember correctly from where I read it, I believe his server is running on an Intel as well, not sure what kind though, weather it's netburst or a newer one.

Not sure if it's with skeletons, bloodrose has a lot of them, and that doesn't lag very much. And there is some correlation between a player character and the lag spikes, I can hop onto ww1 and isle with a character I just created and it doesn't get any lag spikes at all.

Got a few, bug's in general.

#1) When you throw your axe and if it's still flying, and you die, you lose it upon death. (E.G Thunder Axe)
#2) Sometimes when I have my Thorn bow out; and I switch to another weapon, I Can't use it, and if I switch back to thorn bow I can only shoot it, than after I die, I can use any weapon again..
#3) Not really a bug more of a suggestion, is it possible to NOT MAKE EVERY BOW strap onto your back?
#4) QuickSlot, scrolls they can be set, but they don't get set after you die... tomes work though

Scrolls only work when set to a hotkey once, as when you use a scroll it gets recreated in your inventory. One of the downsides to using scrolls as opposed to using tomes. ;)

Also, what's wrong with bows strapping to your back? Is it hard to scroll your inventory to get to them/hotkey them?

Bows only go to your back when there's room. Once you're out of room, they try to find a spot in a bag.

How the f*ck do we keep losing thrown weapons when they still don't leave your inventory

2. Happens randomly, were you have some weapon out and it doesn't work until you switch it with something else.
3. Not really a problem, you can hot key it, unless you want it to go straight to a bag of holding.
4. I've heard from other people you can loose scrolls by hot keying then, haven't hot keyed them my self.

2. That can happen if you put away your bow as soon as you fire a shot (or put it away before you fully shoot an arrow). Just take out your bow again and you'll see the bow go back to idle position and then you'll be able to use all other weapons again.

The second bug is irking me... Fixed the -8900 bit... But I can't seem to get the race based damage reduction to work for some reason. :\ Think may need code side fix - plea submitted to MiB, for some of my future plans require that ability.

Wonder if the Helm of the Dead is working, hrmm... Seems it used to... Spider pot's always been buggy though.

Okies, got it working... Buggy thing is you have to be wearing armor for it to work - seeing MiB about that, doesn't matter what kind though.
HoD works too, but I fixed a bug where it doesn't work against arrows or other projectiles fired by undead.

Using the "demon_blood" parameter on a monster doesn't appear to do anything anymore. Before JAN2010a, it worked, but I just tested it on a Blackhand flayer, and he doesn't do extra damage.
He does give 200% XP though but I guess that's not really fair right now :p

Odd, I thought that was a "feature". :p

Hrmm... Code looks alright... An orc? Hrmm.... :\ Tweaked some stuff on the player's variant awhile ago, but the monster's demon blood hasn't changed.

I did notice this though:
After (and *only* after) attacking the Blackhand flayer with the demon blood parameter, whenever he'd hit me back, I'd hear the "thunder strikes" sound that you also hear when players use demon blood. Before I hit the orc, I'd only hear "RAWR" the whole time, but now it's "RAWR" and "thunder strikes".

The damage is still the same though... I calculated the average damage out of ten hits from a regular Blackhand flayer, one with demon blood, and one with demon blood who was making the "thunder strikes" sound (because I hit him once) and the values were all really really close.

So something is happening alright. But it's just the sound, not actual extra damage. The red glowshell gets activated automatically though.

Yeah, like I said, I figured it works... However, I noticed it does *not* work vs. projectiles (or likely any other damage not called directly from the undead's script - spells, etc.) - managed to fix that.

Wierd thing is, I only seem to be able to adjust incoming damage from specific races from inside an item script... Not a problem with the Helm of the Dead, obviously, being an item itself... But for the Spider Potion, I had to move the damage reduct to armor_base... So, strangely enough, it'll work next patch, but only when wearing armor (again, any armor).

Shall do some debugs on the monster's demon blood later - not sure what's going on with it, just looking it over just now.

I've been able to replicate the "You can't afford the payment of the "insertitemhere" bug by offering a ring to an npc while wearing said ring.

Keldorn, what cpu does your server have, I'd like to know what cpu's other people use in for there server and weather or not they also have that cpu usage spiking lag bug I've been getting as well.

Here we go..
Dark Angel asked me if I would transfer some items from his alt, to his main. I said sure.
He says I have blood drinker and thornbow.. do not steal
I say "i would never"
he gives me all these random items such as:
Fire gaunts
flamelick
perf hugger
Green rune blade
and a few more items that i can't remember (but i'm sure he will tell you.)
But most importantly...
thornbow and
blood drinker
ALL WERE TICKETED

he swithces to main.
I asked "wtf is green rune blade??" and i redeem the ticket only to find out its a RBOA.
i give him everything (or so i thought)
come to find out.. the fire gaunts.. thornbow.. AND blood drinker vanished from my inv.
i was heated because it looks like i thief'd his shit.

is it possible that something stupid like redeeming a new item I just received triggered the most valuable items to vanish?

I recorded a demo with him in the server showing the world my bank and inv.. but no one told me THE HUD DOESN'T SHOW UP IN DEMOS WTF!?! yea so nothing shows up. it looks liike im just standing near a wall looking retarded.
is there a command for viewing hud in demo? i tried viewdemo playdemo and an old one i knew from CS called gg(gg demoname) and none worked.
i have the demo and i will email it to who ever wants to see..
and Thothie you may search my inv and bank only to find 1 thornbow that is mine. liko gave it to me.

msc is so random.

If you don't wait ten seconds after the transfer of items to leave, then those items will disappear when the other person leaves. Were the fire gaunts, thornbow, and blood drinker picked up just before Darkangel left?

im pretty sure he waited the 10 secs.

why would items EVER just disapear?
I can see if he left before the 10sec timer and it went back to his inventory. yea, that'd make perfect sense.. but having it just disapear so noone gets it? retarded.

they are not even my items and im pissed about it.

I think you have to be holding the items in your hands for 10 seconds. It might've changed, but I think it screws up if you put them in your inventory..

Age is right cause I've also noticed that when i gave an item to someone they were already holding something in their hold so it wasnt equipped in hand, it didnt start the confirm message, they pulled it out, THEN started the confirm, so I think you have to hold in hand for 10 seconds.

i want to make sure mine it ok. its big and i can fix it.. just want to see if i have to.

I'm always surprised demos work at all. Guess you'll have to FRAPS it next time. ;)

Doesn't matter if the item is in your hands or sacked, but 10 seconds is the bare minimum (hence the "at least" in the warning). Really suggest playing a map through just to be sure while keeping an eye out for the FN link broken icon, if you're going to transfer a whole lotta raries. Granted, better to just not transfer a whole lotta raries.

It must've changed then, because like Freerad said, the confirm message never popped up until you held it in your hand for 10 seconds. I haven't played this game for several months though, so meh.

Thoth - It has to have been in there hands to start with. They can sack it after, but it has to have been in the hands and not gone directly to their pack. (Being that it's in game_deploy)
