Okay, I made a custom map, and i'm trying to test it.. however, it says it's not [FN] approved, even when i'm playing a LAN game and switch it from Edana to my map, which is the only suggestion i've recieved.

I'm at a loss - other people test their maps that aren't [FN] approved yet. :?:

Try going into your listenserver.cfg, and removing the line
exec fuznet.cfg

This will make your server not attempt a connection with FN.

Nope; that exec fuznet.cfg is what connects you to FN. No FN, no problem, for testing maps.

Okay.. finally ready to get back to working on my map. I'm using LAN characters, and I can "map" to change to my map without the game crashing.

However.. for some strange reason whenever I map whatever I can no longer pick my characters.. it says at the top "RibaldRon<3> joins the server" and I think that's what's causing it.. I vaguely remember this happening before, when my friends and I made a whole LAN party of characters, but never this frequently. Any ideas on how to fix this would be appreciated. :)

My only previous solution was to just restart MSC and then start the server up on the map we wanted to play, but my map doesn't show up on my list, so I can't do that..

Do you have both spawn entites (ms_player_spawn && ms_player_begin)?

yep, what's weird is that even if I Map Edana back to Edana I STILL can't pick a character - the only thing I can do is restart MSC :(

changelevel, don't 'map'. Map starts a new server, doesn't it?

Cheers! :)

For some reason I was thinking "Map" was supposed to be the right command for testing maps.

Edit: oh yeah, it worked. :p

Also, to note: Your LAN characters are based on your name, so if you make a LAN character under "Ron" and call it "RibaldRon", your name will change to "RibaldRon", and next map you go to, your character won't be there. Unless, of course, you set your name in userconfig.cfg, then your name will change back after every map change.
