OOO that video pissed me off. I love skateboarding and do it a lot but I have never had anything like that happen to me. I would be SO pissed if that happened. I would get that cop in so much trouble.

Whenever I see stuff like this I don't really trust that the "victims" didn't antagonize anything. I mean like what happened before the cameras where on and why did the just happen to have a camera.

But that doesn't seem to be the case here, I mean choking some 13 year old? even if he was "resisting arrest" by continuing to skateboard that doesn't warrant CHOKING.

Depends on what I was doing - and how fat the cop was. ^_^

Granted, when I was their age I was a lot faster, and ran from cops, and escaped, quite a few times. Mostly just for violating curfew. (It's rough being a nocturnal child in a snobby neighborhood.)

As much as I hate skater scum, I wish he grabbed the girl a little harder. Ya can tell by the way she holds herself she probably comes from a family with a some money. Had he broke something on her, he would now be on the side of the bars he really needs to be.

There needs to be more psychological profiling for officers, and they need to be paid better. My friend is a police psychologist, the only one for like 12 branches out here. He and his fellow cop-psyches came to the conclusion at a convention that about 70% of the greater LAPD come from families with abusive alcoholic fathers. There's something about the job that attracts people with that kind of trauma. The need to assert authorataé, as it were. (...and I can tell you loads about that man's family life, just watching that video clip.)

Violence like that against white kids is pretty rare though. However, in poor (read: black) neighborhoods, that there is par for the course, and we see a video like that come out every day, and those are generally quite a bit more violent. The worst those cops ever get is suspension (sometimes with pay, even after killing an innocent). Given what they have to deal with in those neighborhoods, however, it's no wonder they snap so often. There are lots of nasty places in LA where cops just don't go, period - more or less anarchist gangland war zones.

Our car broke down in one such place when I was young. Being taken under the wing of the local drug lord for protection while we got our car fixed was an 'interesting experience' to say the least. >_>

He went for the second kid, as soon as he learnt there was evidence against him.
Why did he arrest the camera guy? he was just standing there so far as I could tell, but he still made him lie down, and cuffed him, and he tells him (camera boy) that he was resisting arrest, when you can clearly see he was just standing there.

Why did he have a camera? To make a skate video, theres lots of UK kids that take cameras skating that my brother knows.

I think it was a cell phone camera on the last guy he arrested - or at least it seems to go down to the ground with him far too well.

Could very well be, but the camera seems to be in his pocket in the end - or maybe he dropped the helmet, hence the angle. I kinda get the impression there was some sort of skater festival taking place near by from the text, unless there really is an official skateboard day.

According to a friend who talked to people over there, starting at 12:01 AM that day, hundreds of people went out and started skating. It really was a Skateboard Day >_>

No, it was a regular camera because they were using a fish-eye lense. Also, he went down really slow and placed the camera on the ground.

I can't stand to see overweight people in a position where your physical fitness is key in your job.

He did go overboard with the choking. If I was standing nearby I would have... wrote an angry letter to my congressman. (was going to say something along the lines of knocking him out, but he probably had backup and I am too lazy to deal with multiple fatasses.)
