Yes I know kuroneko, I already tried changing my steam to C:\ instead of D:\ but it still wouldn't work, i've also tried updating my video game drivers, no dice either. It's rather weird since I see no connection to who the error happens at.

I'm on windows XP (no service packs installed, hmm), GF 3 TI 200, but i've seen people on win2k, ATI cards, etc, still getting it.

I think i figured it out.....maybe

Well im pretty sure i figured out the problem that makes me crash to desktop every time.....well first i got the one from XoXie installed and everything and then i couldnt do anything remotely close to joining a server....then i put in new drivers as directed, then when it still didnt work i refered back and then uninstalled and downloaded from a new source....Father Brandon...This time i can create my own server *BUT*...I still cant join others in game and it said .dll differs....SO! i re-extracted the one from XoXies mirror and then switched it with the current one and tried it out and sure enough when i did that....BOOM! crash to desktop so Xoxies download has a corrupt Client.dll in the cl_dll folder. As for Father Brandons Client.dll i dont know what to do when its tells me that it differs from everyones......well i hope i helped in someway with my crazy adventure of figure out how to make MS:C Work.

By the way i did play it for like 10-20 min last night and great job guys :)

P.S. if anyone that has it working and is willing to send their client.dll can you please shoot it to me in a .dll? My email is [email protected] Its relatively small. Good luck everyone and hopefully i can play with you soon

:oldcry: Yes yes, ive downloaded the one from mirror 4 and ive noticed that its client.dll is as twice as big as those from the other mirrors, when ive downloaded it i tryed without switching dlls. , i vouldnt join but i could create, then i switched dlls and then i couldnt join or create, perhaps rhis only happens 2 me, but its worth a tray :oldcry:

 Have you tried unchecking the "transparent chat box" and "reflections" boxs in the Options>>Multiplayer>>Advanced menu? i have a friend on my lan that had the same crash bug when he joined servers and now it seems fine might just be the old geforce 2 being quirky tho.

This doesn't seem like a graphics related issue, I don't know but I for one have tried absolutely all different settings in my video options, as well as the fact that the people getting these errors have a wide vierity of graphic cards.

The following did NOT work:
re-installed
re-downloaded
upgrade gfx driver
try my brothers msc folder that works for him
deleted halflife-folder
re-extracted
re-installed steam

I notice that if I start MS from inside the Steam Game's menu, it will crash when I try to connect to anyone, or try to establish a kingdom. However, if I connect via the server menu first, I'm good. If you can't even get the GUI to come up, however, I've no idears.

Can you put some emphasis on 'connect through the server window first'?
Do you mean connecting by use of console or are you strictly talking about how you start Master Sword in the first place? I don't know any other way of starting it than connecting through steam.

Edit: Ok I just tried what thottie told me to, and IT WORKED!
Hail thottie!

Ok so this is what you do; Start steam, then, in the upper bar, click:
'view' (the dropdown folder), in the view dropdown, select 'servers'. Set your filter to 'master sword' and connect to one of the servers.

It worked for me!

ok... try what i did (if your having problems connecting to or creating a server):

1.) Delete your MSC folder
2.) Delete anyinstalls you have
3.) Exit steam
4.) Update graphics drivers (might require restart. If it does don't forget to to close steam if it loads when windows starts.)
5.) Download the file
6.) Install
7.) Open steam
8.) Check and make sure it running Open GL ( Options -> Viseo -> Renderer)
9.) Try it out

Horray! it works! Connecting through the servers list on the steam OUTSIDE of the game works for me.
