Eh, if it's the version you downloaded from Steam... *maybe* (Also, if it's a CD, you maybe able to use the key to get the Steam version).
It maybe be a bit tricky though... Download and play Blueshift (just load Training Room), and see if you have:
%steam_path%\Steam\steamapps\%steam_user%\half-life\ containing hl.exe
- or -
%steam_path%\Steam\steamapps\half-life engine.gcf
If you have the latter, but not the former:
- Close Steam
- Create folder: %steam_path%\Steam\steamapps\%steam_user%\half-life\
- Open: %steam_path%\Steam\steamapps\half-life engine.gcf with GCF Scape
- Dump entire contents in new half-life folder
- Close GCF scape, then move onto the steps below
Either way:
- Close Steam
- Download the HLDS as described in this thread (Only Step One is required.)
- Take the "valve" folder created in that process, and dump it in: %steam_path%\Steam\steamapps\%steam_user%\half-life\ as well
- (Optional): Open Regedit, add in the key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\valve\steam\ a string value named ModInstallPath containing your Half-Life path, sans the ending slash: (%steam_path%\Steam\steamapps\%steam_user%\half-life)
- Download MSC main, and install, download betapack, and install. (If you skipped the optional step, you'll have to tell the installers where the install folder is manually - should be: "%steam_path%\Steam\steamapps\%steam_user%\half-life\msc")
- Open Steam
*Hopefully* MSC will be in your library now.
If not, you can try to make a URL shortcut: steam://rungameid/17286956900688068678
Or a traditional shortcut with:
%steam_path%\Steam\steam.exe -applaunch 70 -game msc
Obviously, no promises... Good luck!
(PS. Try just installing MSC first. Who knows, it may even work. Blue Shift may download HL content as well as the engine.)
