Jump off the high horse, rilez. You might work on MS:S, doesn't make you a god in neither mine or anybody else's eyes.

You want alpha builds, sure, make them. But atleast come up with a great idea to how you're gonna find testers. Not making a +1 till +100 thread about giggity hoppity boohoo or whatever it was.

You seem like you're trying to take all credit for this mod by saying how YOU are gonna give us the alpha versions, and that YOU are gonna pick by saying who gets +100 with giggity, and giving us the idea that YOU are the god of MS because YOU code for MS:S.

What the hell is that bs anyway.

hot damn, I cant even sleep without more flames.

If you want to keep flaming me "in my +1 thread" so be it. You're all "+1'ing" by even posting here, so you shouldn't be the ones talking.

I think I'll let WeissberV in, because he did what he asked. I doubt anyone else will "because its +1ing" and everyone else is going to post explaining to me that this is a "1+ topic." WeissberV, you should look for a PM/Email in about.. a week from now, so I can iron out the class system. (Mage, Warrior, Assassin/Thief, Archer, etc. )

And yes, I'm becoming the new Pimpsta. I'm definitely using horrible English and insults in every post. I'm also photo shopping pictures of MS:S for you guys. YOU CAUGHT ME.

Can someone lock this/no mans land?

You're also trying to get admins to lock your fail threads, a bona fide Pimpstaism :p

I think this takes the cake. The lopsided, grey, leaky, shit-filled cake. You shouldn't base who gets to be in the alpha solely on who can spam the best, and shouldn't deny anyone except for a legitimate reason. And a legitimate reason isn't because they disagree that spamming = reliability or whatever you were trying to find in testers by making this thread.

^ Indeed, I couln't have said it better.

For being a DEV you are NOT a god or anything of that kind you belive you are, you are NOT the mod leader. You want/are deciding everthing, because all I see is what you want to do and don't care about anything else.

MS: S should not be what you want, but a copy of MS: C, no stupid class system. (MS 1.1 had a class system, but you could still go jack-of-all-trades, I liked that, not the BS you want to do with MS)

Remember, we love MS, but we don't want a MMO copy under the name MS, if MS: S does end like a MMO copy... don't count on anyone playing it, it will die and root, MS: C is alive becuase of what it is, a good RPG and not a MMO wich is what you are triying to turn MS into.

I really think you guys don't have any reason to insult me, when almost none of you have ever offered to help MS:S, at all. I may not be the best at coding but I wanted to see MS:S finished. If you are just gonna sit on your asses, and tell me what to do, but not offer to help yourselves, you're just as lame as you claim me to be.

I'm not acting like a fuck ing god, and I'm not fuck ing claiming to be anything.

I'm not trying to turn MS:S fuck ing into ANYTHING, I'm trying to finish the god damned mod. If you want to fuck ing help, THEN HELP. If you don't want to help, STOP COMPLAINING. I'm SICK AND TIRED of all you whiners and complainers that haven't done jack shit for either mod.

That's fine, we have a few mappers (Barnum, Dridje, Blasto etc.)

On a side note, I meant the class system as what you have at the start of the game. It only picks your main weapon stat, like in MS:C.

Knee deep in shit
Some of us may not have the modding skills required to actually work on the mod, but that doesn't mean we don't contribute to the mod. Those of us that are "just gonna sit on [our] asses, and tell [you] what to do, but not offer to help [our]selves" are the reason this mod still even exists today. This mod has gone through more than its share of rough times, and more than its share of developers. Why is it still around? It is around because of us, the "whiners and complainers that haven't done jack **** for either mod." have kept the interest alive. This mod could have easily followed the same path as Battles of the Millennium. They lost their coder, and interest died. Where is the mod now? Dust in the wind. The situation with that mod was very similar to this one. The original team disbanded, so another team took the wheel. That team eventually lost their coder, and couldn't find another one. It died within a year. This mod has been without a coder for how long? Much much longer than BoTM, and yet it is still kicking. Don't talk down on the members of the community that don't have any modding talent, and talk to us like a bunch of lazy moochers. We offer our support in an entirely different, and just as important way. Just because you have a tiny bit of coding experience doesn't make you better or more important than any of the rest of us, and you can be replaced. I guarantee this community won't disappear when you do. The Mastersword community has been through tougher times than these.

I'm not saying I'm better or more important. But if people talk to me saying "oh you don't do shit you suck you lazy ass add character saving wait no don't you're ruining MS:S " It gets really annoying, especially when they don't offer to help. Seems whatever I post is misinterpreted. The community posts ideas, but it doesn't necessarily mean they're helping. I.E : We need DM scripted combos/DM stuff would be cool/We need DM but with moar MS

If you wanted to know, our staff composes of this :

Coders : Myself, dRkiLL
Mappers : Barnum, Dridje, Blasto, and that guy making thornlands.
Modelers : Vomica?

Thats it. If you want to complain about MS:S being ruined, etc, or me acting like I'm some god, thats what are team composes of so far. If you want to help, help. Stop flaming me, this topic has served its purpose. I have my beta testers, go find some other thread to flame.

I'm only saying what I'm seeing, and thus far, I only see what I alredy said in my post, I never said you are ruining MS, but you are in the way of doing so, for the simply thing of classes, classes = bad.

Realism in a fantasy mod?! NO WAI.

And I hate classes, I end quitting all games with classes, since it's boring as hell.

/agree
I submit to you this:
A class system, while specializing oneself and thus not requiring crosstraining, has many many disadvantages.
Firstly, this means that partying up is inevitable, and while that may be a bad thing, it leads to designations.
Example, one guy has a sword, so he's the OMGSWORDGUYTHATKILLSEVERYTHINGEVAR. On the other hand, you have a mage, which becomes...the healing bitch. At least, if you're classifying a mage into orderly and chaotic magic, or balancing. Thus, given the current lewt system, means that the OMGSWORDGUYTHATKILLSEVERYTHINGEVAR says OMGIGETLEWT while the aforementioned healing bitch is left in the dust, with no lewt. Crosstraining allows for readiness for any battle, and the ability to function on your own, and when partied up, allows for easier designation, even.

Squirrel's suggestion for classes:

First, you choose a class. When you kill a monster with your chosen skill, you get a certain multiplier of exp (say, 1.2). When you kill a monster with a skill that isn't your main, you get less exp (say .7). This makes it so that you can train anything you want while still having a main skill, and said main skill actually makes a difference (rather than now where it's just a title).

Another option on this would be have the player choose a main skill and a lesser skill. The lesser skill would allow for normal exp, so the player would be able to level it at a slightly slower rate than the main, but still have a good grasp on the weapon class.

(Also, Jack of all Trades could be a class that you could choose, ya whiney bastards :p)

Which makes all the others useless, since everyone will choose that class.

Not if you put some sort of limit on it, like lower the level cap to 75% of a specialist, or make the weapon damage less, or give less exp ;-)

I like that idea, people should be able to be a jack of all trades if they choose, but shouldn't be able to be as strong as say a master of one skill. That way a jack of all trades could be an expert in all skills but never truely master any one skill.

Makes sense to me.

Rilez - I'd suggest making the character have a skill class (meaning a programming class, not the classes mentioned before). The class GSkill would be an abstract class that all the different skills extend (Swordman, JOAT, Blunt, etc).

Off the top of my head, here are some functions that would be useful:
int getDamageMultiplier( int Skill )
int getExpMultiplier( int Skill )
int getHealthPerLevel() //Returns the health that you should get everytime you level
int get[insert_other_attribute_here]PerLevel(); //This and the health one would just be an easy way of adding more classes in later.

etc.

I should be able to add that in once I get all the other skills working.
