That looks... astounding. The bloom on the map also compliments it well, as it doesn't tear the soul out of your eyes and eat it, leaving you standing in awe.

Or does it?

Anyway, keep up the great work!

I'm guessing this is idermarks tower2? Well at least it looks like it since there are so many doors in the map when its clear, and the current idermaks tower is... how should i say "lame and short"

Also, looks nice tbh, keep it up!

I think it's one of the prettiest maps we've had in quite some time.

It might not seem so short, if 3/4ths of the map didn't consist of friendly wilderness though. If you had to actually work your way to that castle, it might be quite time consuming, depending on how difficult you made it.

Could work up something creative, like actually having to build those bridges while under attack, or something. The warped terrain does limit the possibilities somewhat though.

In anycase, I believe (hope) this is part of the much more complex Melanion Ruins.

That was actually my original idea, to build the bridges through searching for wood, but it kind of got lost in development..? I dunno, it's still a good idea tbh.

By the gods! A non-linear, non-awful, non-boring, non-poorly designed, non-sh*tty, non-generic, non-undetailed, non-repetitive map! For mid-levels even!

EVERY HOLY STANDARD HAS BEEN BROKEN! THIS MAP IS NOT SHIT AND DULL!
DESTROY IDEMARKS_TOWER FOR NOT PLEASING THE HIGH-LEVELS OF THE COMMUNITY!

Some of you don't seem to understand me at 100%. I'm not saying the map is ugly or anything, i like the map as it is in terms of aspect. I just dont like what became out of it, its a boring map that doesn't have anything special in it at all in my point of view, that is why i say its lame.

I couldn't care less if this map was high lvl or low lvl at all, but i do care that this map gets something to attract people into it.
I can give you a nice example of a few low lvl maps that i never disliked (isles, chapel and daragoth), and i consider them not as boring as idermarks tower is currently.

If you are thinking this is some attempt to make idemarks tower a new high lvl map, no it isn't. It's simply a high lvl player voicing out that the map in its current state isn't even attractive to me. And yes, i do care about low lvl maps too since i even spend some of my time in some of those maps whenever possible, mostly helping out newbies with lvling up or exploring the area and sometimes chatting.

I guess this is all i have to clarify...

As opposed to walking through a dozen acres of nothing, and then killing monsters? If not playing the game is your favorite part of it, Char_Recover must be your most favorite map evah. ;)

I figured it was your favorite map ever because you're the guy who doesn't care about quality control in the slightest and char_recover is easily the ugliest map in the entire game.

I care about gameplay. It don't have none... Like the first 3/4ths of Idemarks_Tower. :p

Granted, while I like Lockdown's original idea of making you go look for woodplanks, with that terrain, I wouldn't be sure what sort of monsters to put in your way. Eagles, maybe, but would need more variety than just a bunch of birds. Anything ground based would encounter navigation issues. :\

Could put lobbers by the planks, provided they were set turret, maybe. Hrmm...

The first 3/4ths. Are you serious? Yes, you can run past the bears that roam around outside the fortress, but then there's an entire fortress (which is at least half the map) with monsters literally around every corner. Sure, you can run past those, but then again, you can run past everything in daragoth, too. And receive nothing.

Anyway, here's a render of a hyperboloid to complement your post. A simple hyperbole here really isn't enough.

My bad, you're right. That's 2/3rds of the map with nothing to do, at best. Not 3/4ths. ;)

(Although it's 90%, going by poly count.)

Hey guys this really is my first (serious) map. I won't try to argue it's some masterpiece, but I like what I did with it. Yes, the entire outside really is nothingness, but I pictured it as more of a hang-out area :( Totally bombed that one.

Well, good job marking the balcony (playable area), the area behind the transition (unreachable), the cliffs (untraversable) and the death pit as "areas with no gameplay".
I guess I could win every argument too if I cheated like that.

For instance: The entire top-left area of the map is unused, so if the map were expanded, it could be a playable area, too.

But then again, if the sea were on fire, I'd have fish for breakfast.

Kinda missing the point, fish fingers or not. >_>

If Lockdown wants to arrange something where you gotta go looking for piles of wood to cross the two rivers, I might be able to work something out, and add some additional loot for the added difficulty. Main thing is figuring what monsters to use to guard the wood piles or what not. Would add quite a bit of playtime for the map.

I *could* deal with the terrain *somewhat* with insanely complex monster clips like I used at the castle entrance, but even that one isn't entirely convincing - it's just animated armors have no feet, so you don't notice how "off" it is, most of time.

Please just don't touch Idemarks tower. After you raped Deralia sewers I, for one, have no faith at all in your ability to enhance 'gameplay'. If you turn one of the best exploration maps into another lame 'fight your way through a straight path and then fight a repetitive, boring boss to earn loot' map I am going to vomit and potentially just never play msc ever again. Actually, maybe you could just not touch any map ever again. You should be concerned with scripts and fixing bugs, not turning every creative idea that ever was into the same rehashed formula that got old with lodagond.

Sure, you can run past those, but then again, you can run past everything in daragoth, too. And receive nothing.
And Daragoth is one of the best maps in the game because of it. The 'reward' is making it to the safe haven of Deralia where the player can engage in quests and the story can continue (of course, it doesn't because of a bizarre obsession with ugly, disconnected linear pieces of shit ) which is a hell of a lot more interesting than fighting a legion of misplaced mummies over a %chance to earn more loot. The fact is, people still run Daragoth from time to time. People still run Keledros Prelude and ruins. They still run chapel, isle and thornlands. They still run Aluhandra. Nobody will ever run Deralia sewers once they have the loot that drops there, and for good reason. It's boring, frustrating, linear, and, at least in regards to the unrelated map fragment that was tacked on for no reason other than to make the map longer and linear, it is ugly as sin (dridjes portion, however, it's beautiful and masterfully laid out).

Granted, while I like Lockdown's original idea of making you go look for woodplanks, with that terrain, I wouldn't be sure what sort of monsters to put in your way. Eagles, maybe, but would need more variety than just a bunch of birds. Anything ground based would encounter navigation issues. :\
What about mummies? You can always add mummies and if they encounter navigation issues due to the terrain, why not just make them fly?

By msc's 'standards' (if you can call use that word at all) it is a masterpiece and you bombed nothing. That portion of the map is a perfect hangout area.

I do like linear maps, but the number of linear maps being made is just getting old. MSC requires something fresh and new. The change in style might bring in more players and raise the activity when new patches are released. Also, have you noticed the activity level of MSC when the last patch was released? It was nothing compared to previous path releases. MSC players just farm for loot and stop playing, there needs to be more goals in MSC rather than just farming. There's an entire novella to our disposal yet there really aren't any official lore quests nor items.
