So I recently re-installed Oblivion.

Problem #1
When I launched the game it played the intro movies (I skipped by pressing esc) and then froze.
I solved that problem by simply removing the intro movies from the oblivion.ini.

Problem #2
After removing the intro movies it goes straight to loading the main menu. Except it doesn't.
Well it does after like ten minutes, or so. Literally, it freezes, then after 10 minutes it begins to load the game.
Doesn't even take any RAM before those 10 minutes have passed.
I have googled for a couple of hours now and failed to find a solution. What I have tried is the following:
Reboot
Run in high priority

Other info:
I have some mods installed, but they aren't activated, so that shouldn't affect anything.
I installed an addon called Operation Optimization which replaces some meshes in the game world.
I have an E6600 Core2Duo processor along with a 8800GTS 320MB video card.
I'm very tired, so I might have missed any obvious solutions. >_>

Any suggestions?

Knee deep in shit
Vid codecs imo

The intro movies are a big tip off, but the menu also plays a vid for the background. Try updating your codecs. I had a similar problem when Oblivion first came out.

Some mods modify files even when not activated. Not all mods function with all releases - particularly if your copy of Oblivion is h4x0red.

Uninstall Oblivion, then manually delete Oblivion folder (if yer not good at navigating, right click on oblivion shortcut and use "find target" before uninstalling.) Then reinstall Oblivion (sans mods). If it works, then you can try applying mods one at a time.

There's also always the generic "upgrade/downgrade" your graphic drivers. Run driversweeper or some such between graphic driver reinstalls.

So I fiddled a lot with video codecs, updating/removing/adding. Unfortunatly, none of that helped.
Then, I deleted everything Oblivion related (uninstaller was bj0rk, so I had to manually uninstall registry keys and files) and did a clean install, didn't even patch it. Now it appears to work fine. I'm gonna try updating and adding the stuff I downloaded before and isolate the bad modification. :)
Thanks.

EDIT: It seems to be either the Stealth Overhaul mod or Operation Optimization that caused it.
