Makingserver+wireless router=?

I don't have the router directly plugged into my computer, I get Wi-Fi from my dads computer and I was wondering how do I open my ports with this set up? Do I go onto his and open his and that opens mine?

Go there, click the routers link in the top menu, and find your router. I can't remember what exactly ms uses, but half-life will be in the list of programs.
