Mapping help!

Okay so im new to mapping.. i read the tutorials and such and blah blah; But i want to know how i make monsters i just dont get it! Please tell me from scratch how to make a NPC spawner. I am indeed a noob at mapping but my map looks half good if you ask me! To dispare though the map does not have a name yet. :( Also can i ask how to take screenies on hammer for you guys? (Please provide pictures for making NPC spawners from scratch.) Thanks.

To just take a picture of the hammer screen, press your Print Screen key which is located on your keyboard.

Edit: I don't have one of those nifty' little print buttons on my keyboard im afraid.

Are you sure? it usually is up near th f12 key.

Okay okay; But how do i get that 'Class' menu up? Also, how do i make a 'Msarea_Monsterspawn' :?: Also where do i find my screen shots once taken?

Wow... Basic. ;)

Hopefully you've gotten to the point where you can draw a box. Paint it with a texture that begins with "aa" (most likely you'll have loaded is "aatrigger", but any will do). Then select it, and click on the "To Entity" button. If you have the proper FGD's loaded, it will give you the required menu.

Hm, I can't find a 'To Entity' button? and this is the list of the following FGD files i currently am running on my hammer utility:
ms.fgd
halflife_3x

And thats well.. it. :eek:

Should be "ms1.4.fgd"

And the button should be right there on your right side panel... If it ain't - maybe you are using the Source variant of hammer or something, in which case, I canna help ya. :/

Okay, where do i get 1.4 version? and are you sure its not.. 'Create prefab' And the version of hammer im using is 3.4.

OH WAIT!! Its under the 'Move to' Thing i see.. Sorry im so stupid. :oops: But i do need the 1.4 version of the ms.fgd file though if you can give me a link.

I smell a newbie.

Alright to get the "ms1.4.fgd" file. Navigate to your MasterSword Continued folder, it is called msc, then look for a folder called "dev." In there, you will find the .fgd

We've already established the "n00bie" bit - no need to rub it in - everyone's gotta start somewhere... ;)

The FGD is in your msc/dev folder. Note, as per the mapping tutorial (some of which maybe a bit advanced for ya), the ms_npcscript bit is not included and must be stuck in manually, but ye need not worry about that until you've learned the ins and outs of entity interaction. ( target<->targetname, etc)

I'm going to move this to the custom content section soon - tis where we keep the mapping stuff.

I'm having some similar problems, except i don't know how to trigger my func_door to open when the NPC's lives are exausted. any help?
