People just claim the rewards and then go "I hae no idea who got it..."

Heavy Cross Bow and North Maul were available at Dorfgan, and as I was trying to arrange rolling, someone brought both. Checked all the logs but none catch what people buy =/ All I'm saying is, it needs to be tweaked in the way it gives items, or do the same as you did with the rares in other chests and make it say "Player recieved a _____ from _____".

Thothie made Old_helena like this to remove rolling for items - since there should be no rolling for items you pay for.

Yeah but it's not fair as it's a race to who gets there first >_>

That's why also you should play with trustworthy people, to avoid this, but sadly that's not always possible.

Maybe making Old_helena under the new artifact system might be better, but that's imo.

I fully agree with Xeropace that it should be shown who stole... I mean bought items from Dorfgan.
It should also be shown who got that one spell, and who got that one bag.

I agree. They basically STEAL the items, because they take them without even saying what they took, and when someone ask who took X item, noone responds.

By all means, keep complaining about the halved XP. I'm sure Thothie hasn't seen it and won't snap like he did over the Wicard Arti Chest >_>

I simply can not wait for MAR2007a anymore now; if that gets released, and the XP is still [censored] [censored] [censored] [censored] [censored] [censored] [censored] [censored], I'm going to file a bug report again (new month = new chance to whine).

I'm sure if you complain at least once every month, you'll give Thothie a reason to garrot you with his code.

Actually, it should be saying "Player received a _____ from _____" whenever a player recieves an item worth more than 500 gold, even from a merchant.

As for the no rolling thing - as far as I'm concerned, any moron who allows people to roll for an item that he paid for deserves whatever he gets (or in this case, doesn't get).

Thothie how people do it is, you roll then who ever wins pays for it... If you made Dorfgan stock multiple then sure that's fine, let people run and buy it...

Let me explain you how Old Helena plays out at the end, if there are civilized people in-game.
People roll to be allowed to buy the item. Nobody actually buys it and then "rolls it away", people are just like "Ooooh I want to buy that, roll!" and then the winner gets to buy it.

Unfortunately, there's also people like Fire Blizzard (BananaSteak) around and some other stupid newbs who have no idea how to behave normally in-game.

Edit: Xeropace beat me to explaining how normal people behave in-game.

Nothing wrong with that, but what I've been seeing in my chat logs, is people buy it, then someone rolls for it - then the moron who paid for it gives it away. That's economic Darwinism, so far as I'm concerned.

You folks might consider rolling by damage points through lplayers PLR_TOTAL_DMG or some such... I should toss in some sort of function for that (list top ten damage point holders, in order, or some such.)

What we really need is a way of stopping people just getting the items as they please. I've tried to play fair several times and yet I always get the short stick.

Some arti rewards people roll for, yet the second the artifact chose me for Phoenix, people wanted to roll >_>

Hey, it even says "no rolling" there. Nothing I can do if you let folks take stuff from ya.

With arti 2.0, if you have a chance to get a phoenix, it simply means that you deserved it. If noobs complains because you didn't want to roll, screw them.

Basically, it's up to you whether you want to roll or not. Once you get something as rare as a phoenix in an arty chest which is tagged (NO ROLLING), it belongs to you(Unless an earlier arrangement had been made etc.). If you feel that others who have helped deserve a chance at getting it, go ahead and roll and if NOT, then tell them to shut up.

My information.
Thothie, to the damage point thing... it is difficult to go by that, since it breaks too frequently. Either it doesn't assign points, or it has a "rollover" point, where it reaches, lets say, 2000 damage, then rolls back to 1000 or 500 or 0... until it reaches that same number. This can apply immediately upon a map start, as one of the first players in. I experience it... maybe... three times a day? Not sure, I just know it pisses me off since I have to count my damage based on how many times it rolls over (using pen & paper). I can amount of 60k damage, and it'll still list it as whatever it is at that point in rolling over, both to myself and those looking for my points. (since the rollover bug is much more nasty than the usual bug of it not assigning the points properly).

The point is that people are forced to buy then roll to prevent other people buying without rolling. Unless a server is passworded there is no way you can guarantee that people won't join and buy rewards.

Using a vendor system makes it really just a race as to who gets there first, which is what the artifact system was meant to combat.

Not to mention the people that cast Ice Shield the whole time to rack up insane amount of points and then stroll off with an item without doing much work.

Point system should be working fine in FEB2008b (if it's not that we're all SOL as I'm out of ideas). My experience in Old Helena, is even if you ice shield every player an eight player server as often as you can, you simply can't keep up with the people who are plowing into it - there's just far too many HP of orcs coming through (and you don’t get points for ice shielding NPCs). The only time I've been able to keep on par with ice shields is on very low end maps with very sparse monsters. However, there's no easy way, at the moment, to accurately list everyone's damage points. (Ye can only get the nearest thousand, and the method to do that is a bit technical, as it’s a dev thang) - so I was thinkin a player command to list the top 10 via pop-up might help for those that care to try to be honorable.

Points are looking better, I was doing wicard runs and checking the PLR_TOTAL_DMG, and my_points. Seemed to be adding up correctly for everybody.
