Gotta beat:
rat.jpg

This one needs animating though... Although it does have a skeleton - I'm not sure if it's rigged.

hmm rather than stealing another model, would you mind sending me that one? i can then model a rat after that one using it as the concept. then i can rig it and "try" to animate it although i think fer said he was able to animate. As a gift to msc before school, id like to try and re model something that need it.

It looks good so far Ceriux, keep up the good work. Maybe you could make an undead rat too?

i actually had that thought on my head, but that could all be done through skinning once the mesh is finished.

heres a list of what i was thinking of actually:

Undead rat - kinda like zombieish
skeletal rat - obvious...
giant rat - obvious...
dire rat - obvious...
fang tooth - different coloring of the giant rat (maybe dire?)
any other ideas?

*shrug* Unused Wizard Wars model - probably because no one ever bothered to animate it.

In the MS3D file, for some reason, it's teeth seem to be on the ground, and it's upside-down.

( PS. "Dire Rat" would get us sued by Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast. ;) )

I'd make an rat with fur patches missing, bones visible, one ear partially missing and half a decayed tail.

lol no dire rat then xD

but that rat looks like the morrowind giant rat, maybe it is could be a possibility of why it wasnt used?

how about ... everything you mentioned, a missing eye and instead of the tail the way you mentioned how about its spine is partially from the spine at the back of the neck to the bottom of the tail? =)

its was exclusively made for wizard wars?

any other ideas?

fangtooth should be something a bit more than just a reskin, maybe give it sharp teeth and a small crest of hair running trough his back.

*shrug* Dunno, it was never used. It's part of a large collection of unfinished models and maps they donated to the cause.

I used to work on Wizard Wars, and I still have contact with one or two of the other original devs, but none of the modelers. :/

Maps?
Although there was a plan for a single-player Wizard Wars adventure, most Wizard Wars maps are simple, symmetrical, Team-Fortress style maps - while the theme for such maps is very MSC friendly, the structure is not. Plus, most of these were made in the early days of Half-Life, and thus tend to suffer from being optimized for the sorry graphics cards of the day. (But hey, at least those cards all followed OpenGL standards proper!)

The one exception is ww_ShrinkSpell, which I intended to convert into an adventure in which the players were shrunk by an evil wizard, and are forced to go running through the walls of his laboratory, while avoiding various giant vermin, and skirting the edges of the giant wizard's robes. Lotta script work and model tweaking though.

I was going to use one of the other maps for a Guild vs. Guild "Capture the Grail" type scenario, but there doesn't seem to be much interest in such a thing. There's maybe one or two good maps in the collection for the notum-wars style progressive territorial control maps I had in mind, where guild could build up their defenses with cash, and attack each others fortifications in a persistant territory, but that'd be a lot more complicated than the Capture the Grail scripts in any case.

use something other than a grail... what i think would be even more fun would be a king of the hill type thing. basically 1 team has a fortress it has to defend while the other attacks it. if the other gets into the fortress for a set amount of time they win, if the defending team is successful then they win. Each guild could make their own fortress map or have one made for them and of course there could be a default map for the guilds with out mappers. basically the layout would be similar to this:

[defender spawn]====[fortress]======any details in between==[attackers spawn]

i know its crappy but im not text artist =p basically the defending team would start fairly close to the fortress while the attackers were further away.

Looking good Ceriux. I think it looks a lot better (and scarier) than the current rat.
