I have been told that you can download specific OpenGL engine packages that overwrite whatever your driver has running for OpenGL. Is this true? if so maybe thothie or one of the devs could find us Vista users a working package so we can ditch the layer overlay that vista uses by default.

Theres gotta be some solution to the vista openGL problem aside from switching back to XP, cause 10 fps in gatecity on a 8800GTS with 4 gigs of DDR2 800 ram with a 6400+ amd 64 x2

Tis unusual to have OpenGL problems with an nVidia, even in Vista. I'd suggest wiping your drivers and re-installing them, however, I'm not sure how to do that in Vista, since I don't think DriverCleaner supports it.

SFAIK the only way to replace your OpenGL setup is to download third-party alternate drivers, and there's only a handful of those out there that work with Vista. ( Check maybe http://guru3d.com )

Seems like ATI is getting better with OpenGL. Since I updated my drivers, at least the bug which would show blood in white squares doesn´t occur anymore and it runs much smoother. If I would use an alternate OpenGL driver, would it run just better than the ATI ones?
