hello ppl,
just gt a tiny gripe about combat....dont u think some enemies and weapons can hit like from wayyyyy too far away?

the biggest example i can think of are those annoying goblins... i mean they are like tiny little gremlins but their meter-long clubs hit from like 2-3 metres away -_- i reckon it kinda gets on ur nerves but i dunno...maybe its just me..(same goes to some bandits such as the sword/punching ones)

also the martial arts kick range...i mean its like every kung-fuers dream to kick far but isnt it a bit unrealistic how your leg can kick the same if not further distance as a longsword?

i apologize if something like this has already been discussed but i just wanted point out some stuff that a newb like me finds a little bit ummm 'put-offing'? and also whether or not this will be adjusted/changed in the near future......but i totally agree that EVERYTHING else is just perfect about the game (esp. the magic) =D

thanks

The ranges are to stop people from being able to escape all damage by running out of range before the monster swings. That's what I think, at least. If not... Thoth may be high? ;-)

Well, there's the additional problem that monsters measure distance from their feet - but players measure it from their center... Which means that monsters have to have an insanely high reach, or you can jump on their heads and be impossible to hit.

I mitigated this somewhat for most monsters, in that their range adjusts if you are above or below them.

The goblins I've not really touched, but I suspect their reach may appear more wrong than most due to the fact they are using a scaled down model (maybe still using the original model's reach).

Also remember some goblins throw rocks. ;)

oohhhh i absolutely HATE those things!! i mean, they throw pebbles at you that do like 2 damage each every second! where do they get all those pebbles from?

well, for more advanced players of course its no prob, since they hav like 1000 hp but for newbs its frustrating lol
ive gotta admit, the new move those trolls hav of throwing boulders at you is awesome! i died in 1 hit! 8)

I think the highest player is at high 800s to lower 900s

playing on lan?

Try to get on a [FN] server... That way you can play with others... and those high levels can help you with some equipment if you like.

Heh, I remember the first time I came across those in MSC 1.0 - I was all - AUUG WTF RUNN!!! ;) - Doesn't take too long to get to the point where you can tear through them though.

True, it takes a LOT longer single player though. This game is very painful single player, being balanced for groups, and although I do intend to one day introduce a single player mode, and I keep a framework for the function in place, it's on the very bottom of list of things to do.

imagine Morrowind with multi-player/co-op capabilities!!!!

Morrowind has the mod multiwind, it basically offers the same functionality as the oblivion mulitplayer. They gave up on multiwind because the project was quickly getting to big for there small development team. I am not sure but the oblivion one might follow the same fate.

lol yep i saw that too >< apparently some guy made online morrowind too but all you can do is travel together, meaning you cant interact with each other AT ALL. I dunno how this is meant to be fun...but in my opinion i reckon
bethesda should've thought about online play before releasing morr/oblivion :(

there was a very large petition to get oblivion multiplayer, but they ignored it I think some 50k people signed it. I remember it being a very large number of people.

The biggest issue with making these games mulitplayer is syncing the worlds, which is almost next to impossible. Though it is clever how the current mulitplayer works.

There's no 'foot' slot, so nope; however, the gauntlets increase kicking damage as well, as well as add effects; I've yet to hear of someone kicking someone on fire ;)

Noes, but like he says, the poison/fire/cold/lightning affects get applied. (Kinda of a bug that I just kept.)
