*SPOILERS* THE CAKE IS A LIE!!! (HL2/Portal Discussion)

So I finished out Portal and HL2Ep2
Ep2 was amazing, tragic and epic.
Portal was some fun stuff, enjoying puzzles myself, that was rather novel...
BUT!...

[MASSIVE SPOILERS]
We learned in Ep2 that Judith was after a boat that was made by Aperture; this vessel took all the teams, and disappeared.
In Portal, the company you are trying to escape is Aperture, which appears to be an underdog to our beloved Black Mesa, and thus cut costs and basic safety in order to get faster results, hence the whole boat thing.

At any rate, time for some conspiracies:
I think Aperture made a better teleportation technology, as clearly seen in their Portal Gun(Black Mesa had huge ass clunky machines with massive arrays, and they were still unreliable, while Aperture has a handheld teleport device.). Kleiner and Magnusson(I think) want this technology even though it is probably unsafe, but of a higher rung than their Black Mesa products.
Problem is, what SPECIFICALLY could be powerful enough on that boat to save humanity from the Combine? As far as we've seen, Aperture only had better teleporting and slave labor on their sides.

Also, what of the Portal character? I don't think we've seen the last of her, for some reason.

If they were able to make a stable Portal 'gun,' it is conceivable that they had larger, accurate large scale teleportation systems...Or, being that they were a direct competitor with Black Mesa, some other experimental weaponry.

The combine just need that portal tech to get in toutch with home so they can launch a new assult or just destroy earth all together. They couldn't do it without it scicne they don't create jsut addapt.

I guess they allowed her to fall from incredible heights... but they also reminded me of Eli's leg.

No, she is Chell Johnson, daughter of the founder of Aperture Science. She got trapped there during their annual bring your daughter to work day. She is not likely Alyx's mom. There is also hints that the Combine invasion had happened during the time she was trapped there, and we all know that the Black Mesa incident, where Alyx's mother died, happened during the initial stages of the Resonance Cascade, which was before the Combine invaded.

After Nihilanth was killed they probably couldn't think for themselves, and just got r0x0red by the remaining humans and Combine, with the exception of the vortigaunts, who could fend for themselves.

Holy crap I just beat Episode Two (and Portal yesterday). What a tragic ending, but wow was it epic.

I got all of the achievements except for the following:
- Kill all grubs (I got 330/333... fuck)
- Find all stashes in antlion cave (8/9... crap)
- Save all buildings outside the silo (I think I got -3 on that one )
- Kill 30 things with the gravity gun (got like 26)
- Beat the chopper without missing (woops)
- Launch the gnome into space (I guess I missed the gnome)

Wow... the ending... holy crap that is sad.

Also, does anybody remember from the start of Half-Life 2 (not the expansion) even before you meet Alyx, when you're walking around through the appartments, you see two people sitting on a couch. A man and a woman, and the man is comforting the woman. Near the end of Half-Life 2 (chapter "ANTICITIZEN ONE" I think) you see them again, sitting on a couch, man comforting woman. In Episode Two, at a certain point when you're walking around inside the silo, you see a man sitting on a couch, comforting a woman who's sitting next to him

And that HEV suit thing: nice find, I'll have to check it out.
The weapons training seminar was pretty funny. As soon as I heard that citizen say "AR3" I was like "I gotta hear this". The microwave casserole stuff was also pretty good, and the "eight pounds of unidentified weight in the rocket" (which is Lamarr, who got put there by Magnusson).

And yeah, Mario, I remember the "Borealis" levels from the Half-Life 2 leak
Awesome that they're still going to use those.

Finally, here are my thoughts on why Eli got killed: maybe the G-Man sent these advisors to kill him because Eli kept warning you about the Borealis, possibly interfering with the G-Man's plans (with the Borealis)?
