I hate this new look of steam it now seems like a giant block, and the idea that they can now eat my bandwidth at will with them dumb background updates doesn't make me happy. Wish I could disable it...

Added Guest Passes functionality - allows owners of certain Steam games to let their friends play games for free, for a limited time trial

Changed Steam client auto-update mechanism to first acquire updates in the background and then ask user whether to restart & apply

Added Favorites area and collapsable status categories to 'My Games' list

Added 5 new colored skins (Default, Ice, Sand, Obsidian, and Grey), selectable in "Settings"

Added 'next' button to Steam news window, allowing multiple messages to be viewed in a single session

Fixed client attempting to update some games which user does not own; was occuring when user had played game during a Free Weekend

Fixed games purchased via PayPal not working in offline mode

uhhhh...**** - they CAN update while you're running steam now D:

least they can't force the updated client to run...

IIRC it was an axe to the face, not a stab.

Booted in "Safe mod with networking", Steam worked but MSN didn't, so I restarted in normal mod and everything worked o_O

I do like the new skin :D

It's always been so wierd to hear people talk about bugs in Steam, mainly because I have never had any problems with it, and I've been using it since it first entered beta.

anyone stuck with the fun 56k connection, or just has plain bad luck gets to see some strange and interesting errors. My favorite is trying to get steam into offline mode, more than that trying to play a game in offline mode. I personally will have issues just starting a game in steam. Random error always saying "this game isn't available at this time" IT LIES ITS ON MY HDD HOW DARE YOU SAY THIS TO ME! People who haven't had any issues should feel special.

Grrr... Mine opened the first time with the new patch and skin just fine... But I've had to reboot since then, and now it won't start...

I deleted my blobs and steam.dlls and all that too, but no go... Doing a Steam reinstall now... Also running through the steam forums, but there's just so many people reporting so many different problems tis one of those needle in haystack tech searches... Grr..

I am seriously worried... MSC is so on the very edge of "barely functional" with Steam - one slightly out of whack update could wipe the whole mod out. I know Valve is struggling to make Steam Vista compatible, so I know we can expect to see several "out of whack" updates in the near future. :|

My information.
Why does the clientregistry.blob file screw up so frequently? Seriously, I probably delete it once a month just to be on the safe side of things, what with how shitty steam is. (I've had it give me three scares already talking about how I'd been VAC banned, luckily it was merely acting up & I haven't been).
