I was bored a few days ago, so I wrote up the backstory of my final(-ish) map. I am waiting for a few other maps to get finished, first, but here is a little something
Ursasti (Yer-us-tea), the head priest of the besieged temple, hid in the corner of his chamber. The ground gave another violent shudder and lay still. Cautiously, he got to his feet and crept towards the door. Outside of his small room was the enlightenment dome. The dome was divided into two halves; one half was light, the other dark. A zig-zag cut divided the two colors, and in turn, the entire room.
Rather, this is how it was supposed to look, but, even before the old priest's eyes, the white side was fiding into a vile shade of black. Somehow, the platform with the Urdualian crest had managed not to fall into the endless abyss after the quake. It stayed suspended, though seemingly fragile.
Urasti gingerly tested the platform to see if it could hold his weight, as it was the only way to cross the room. As soon as his foot touched the stones, he dropped to his kness and clutched his bald, wrinkled head; non-existent voices has begun to rip through his brain.
"One is still alive! Should we kill him?" asked the first.
"No, he may prove useful to us," said the second. "Mortal, what is your name?"
"I.. My name is Urasti. I am the head priest in this Urdualian--"
"Huh.. Urdual," the first started. "We should kill him now for even mentioning that betrayer's name!"
"Calm yourself. I have waited too long for this to have you ruin it all with misplaced aggression. You've already possibly alerted Pathos to our presence with the slaughter. Now, as for this human..."
Urasti lay face down, unconscious. A small amount of blood trickled from his ear down to his open, unmoving eye.
