With all these ideas for MA, I suggest our coders look at The Specialists mod. They have the most complex hand-to-hand fighting system I've seen in HL.

Eh.. Maybe for a later patch. I feel there are some more important things than fixing up MA. (May be mostly scripts, anyway.)

I stumbled upon this open source Gold Source (at least they say it is) mod that has Source like graphics. It also has Source like physics and ragdolls.

If you're hoping to turn MSC into a super mod Jelly, well that seems like a pipe dream to me. Thothie already has enough trouble fixing overloading edicts and characters in a less-graphically-intensive-modded half-life base, and I don't think adding all that awesome stuff would make the game more playable :?

Althoguh, if somehow all that stuff simplified the engine and allowed more stuff to be put in the game that would be the most awesome thing ever.

They're, if i read it right, releasing the source code.

And here is a quote from the lead dev:

I got the AGEIA PhysX source from the Lost Survivor crew, and I've no real idea how to implement it, and if I did, wtf to do with it. I also have the Spirit of Half-Life source, and while I've a better idea of how to implement that, I've no idea what part of it would be worth the effort. (What I wanted most from SoHL was an ambient generic style MP3 – but it apparently doesn’t have that… Reminds me, I need to beg the NS crew for the source to theirs…)

In regards to the vehicle/catapult comment, the only catapults we currently have are already func_train’s. If I put a func_train_controls on them, you’d be able to drive them.

And although the obvious PhysX thing would be bouncing boulders – we already have that in the HL1 physics engine (in case you’ve never tried to catch a bouncing Horror egg.)

Car: The car is goign at like 5 mph, and the revs that the car is giving out is like way more than it should be. ><

and that car video is the weirdest car i've ever seen in Half Life. looks like they set the playermodel to a car and zoomed out, it even looks like they're running, the screen bobs up and down.

That's exactly what it is. Most often seen in "The Specialists" RP servers. Strange that they didn't change the running speed variables and get rid of the screen bouncing...these are things you can all do in a .dll or in-game options menu.

The best idea I've seen for a steering mechanism is in a GMod 9 map I found. If I remember right, it's called gm_rivertrek (adventure?) I dunno. And until I'm un-grounded, I wont be able to check ;)
