Is it really that bad? That's quite shameful.

In fact, I actually recall you or someone else quoting Jester on the subject of Gurluas remaking unrest a long, long time ago:
"No."
Not that I like Jester and not that I actually care about him not wanting others remaking his maps, but copy+paste work is something I don't really appreciate.
That screenshot from Naslhsfdlksdf07xfl3hls in the betapack topic looked interesting (pretty decent ceiling architecture), but if the majority of the map is an unrest clone, I'll pass. If it ever gets released, that is >_>

Frodo, you must also include a transition to Cleicert temple >_> I intended it to be SLIGHTLY hidden away.

You must finish this map because we desperately need desert maps. I was going to do one, but I'm a lazy a**hole.

That screenshot is from pretty much the only room that isn't part of Unrest. I'd say about 90% of the brushes on the map are Unrest2, then there's a hallway to large, multi-exit room, with a bludgeon that's is beautifully built, compared to the rest of the map. There's also a whole lava area, that, I think, is entirely original, but it's in a separate RMF, and thus, presumably, a separate map.

The sploity bits I wanted fixed in Unrest2, aren't fixed in this integrated version either.

Still, I think you should be forbade about making complaints about copy & paste until you actually release a map (or rather, until you release several in a timely fashion, given the delays ye've already had), and it would be nice to see the Unrest2 source used to make a decent map, although I don’t think its going to happen here.

Unrest/Unrest2 were originally among the crap maps I wasn't going to include in the full installer, but they added so little to the size of the installer as a whole I decided to toss them in anyways.

Weren't you planning this to be part of some elemental series? I mean, not that I'm against connecting Cleicert to the world, but I don't recall you planning to connect it to Aluhandra.

Re: AWESOME, Aluhandra Desert?

I like the idea of Wicard -> Aluhundra -> Cleicert -> loldogand, though I'm not sure that's what he was aiming at. Maybe throw another "travel" map in between cleicert and loldogand or something.

Re: AWESOME, Aluhandra Desert?

I think Aluhundra was intended as a bit of a high-end hub for the western end maps (Thunderplanes, etc.) rather than a gauntlet map in a series, judging by the old dev's plans. Fairly certain Lodagond is going to be connected either to all maps periodically, if we go as originally planned, or through some sort of teleportation NPC, if that turns out not to be workable.

I wasn't thinking gauntlet... I was thinking how it would figure into the world map. Sorry if I didn't make that clear enough. >_>

Re: AWESOME, Aluhandra Desert?

If this map is gonna be some kind of thornlands for high levels, I'll be more than happy :).
Thornlands-like in my opinion means many many infinite monsters spawns, a crossroads to many good maps, and free roam with some hidden chests with nice supplies inside etc.

I also find the Thornlands an awesome map. I really enjoy the whole free-roam aspect of it. The current mid-level successor of the Thornlands would be the plains of Daragoth, which is, in my opinion, the best MS: C map ever.
A high level free-roam map would be infinite win.

Re: AWESOME, Aluhandra Desert?

Daragoth, Bloodrose and Thornlands are the only cool open crossroads maps currently, id love Aluhandra, Giant Scorpions, and more nice desert monsters

Re: AWESOME, Aluhandra Desert?

I hope the map gets decent r_speeds, because it would be a shame if it lagged. Probably gonna be hard though, with such an open area.

On a side note, speak of mario/yoshi, where's Marioeo? I haven't seen him post or anything in a long time. Has he left the community?

In that case we should make animated trees too, but coyotes or jackals also roam a desert, and maybe desert lions

Re: AWESOME, Aluhandra Desert?

Because trees are enemies...? Besides the fact that trees don't move (Minus the leaves), why would you need an animated tree?

EDIT: Desert lions?! Since when? :\

Re: AWESOME, Aluhandra Desert?

Treants predate Tolkien (they are a type of Celtic fairy), and are thus fair game, save for the obvious fact that we’ve no model, and they'd likely not work too well anyways.

…although there’s an alternate skin on the Dewm Tree that does look like it belongs in a desert.

For desert creatures in Aluhandra that we do have models for, the various Shahaddar tribes would be dominating the land, of course. Then I figure you’ve got your giant scorpions (I mean, REALLY giant), and as I believe I said somewherez else, fire lizards. Snake charmer scripts (ie. generic variants of Slithar), giant snakes, etc, also all work. Also have this undead cattle things that look like ye’d find them in a desert, and few other desert-oriented models (I’d have to look - those are just off the top of my head.)
