Ya, as one of the few high level Titans, I've felt axes have been given a raw deal as compared to swords. Most swords either parry well, the 2-H ones, or you can use a shield with one. The big axes suck for parry. On top of that they do damage nearly as high as the big axes after the first charge. For example a GIB will do up to 180+ for it's one charge attack and freeze the target, the Novablade does about the same plus DOT fire damage. A bloodaxe will do maybe up to 220, thou often less than than that, say 200 on average, for it's one charge attack. A GTA Does about the same plus minor lightning DOT. So, for and extra 20-40 points damage, it should be 2 or more times as hard to hit with and very slow? I don't get it...

Oppps, the GTA doesn't do lightning damage till the 2nd charge...

I bought a dwarven axe at level 18 to get axes to 20 for GTA. It's been faster and more satisfying than my great axe so far.

As it should be until level 30 or so.

In my opinion, the GTA was a bit of a disappointment. Bad damage compared to my blood axe, and the DoT isn't too appetising.

Been considering adjusting it. I think part of the problem with it is that it does Lightning damage - and undead are somewhat lightning resistant, as is anything that flys. It does half your lightning skill in DOT for 5 seconds with every strike, so if you have lightning at 30 that's an additional 75 damage, presuming whatever you hit has a working nervous system. ;) You may find it most useful against floating armors (save the lightning enchanted ones) and other metalic magical constructs.

For constructs (and undead) the best way is UGA.

Axes are Kewl!

I found the dwarven axe very useful until I could get my hands on a rune axe... But maybe i'm the only one and sometimes my rune axe locks up when I try to use it, locking up sort of like when I botch a charge attack.

And the use i've found for the big axes?

In a big area, you can pop a speed potion or pull out your raven for a second and then swoop your enemy with a big axe. If you do it correctly you can nail the enemy without taking a hit, or maybe one hit for them really fast attacking mobs... One of you slow powerful attacks connecting > than one fast weak attack

speed pots = win.

Do speed pots remove slowing effect of Urdual Shield?
