Only other thing I can think of, is to make sure your r_dynamic is set to 1. :\

I get that glow thing every once in a while where I do the full charge like normal and nothing happens on my side. Also sometimes other players glow don't show as well even when they cast it after you join the server.

Yeah, there's supposed to be function to propagate other player's glows to new players that join, but it don't seem to be working. :\ Dunno about the rest though.

Client effect tracking is weird in this game sometimes.

I've seen this twice so far when the bandits raid helena after you kill them all the villagers stay in combat mode and won't sell anything.

not sure how exactly but I was fighting on hunderswamp with my blood drinker I think I sent it flying and then cast ice shield right after once the spell was gone my unarmed hands looked like bear claws and my blood drinker was gone. When I hit the quickslot key the BD was assigned to it twitched like it was trying to bring something out. Next map was back to normal but my bd is gone.

I can't recall off hand, but if I were to hazard a guess, I suspect the end event is dependant on the fireallpersh going off on a monsterspawn, and those buggers are a tad notorious for buggering up. Usual solution would be an ms_counter, but as the number of bandits varies so wildly with player power, it be tricky.

Well, that's the most detailed "vanishing blood drinker" report I've yet seen - but sadly, still doesn't give me any clue as to what might be causing it.

Sounds like it was trying to restore itself, but your spell casing hands were out (somehow), so it set the submodel index on the spellcasting+martialarts viewmodel, rather than the swords viewmodel... But none of that explains the item vanishing.

Be sure to go ask for a rollback if ya need that back...

It sounds like the player shouldn't be able to use anything when the sword is thrown? I don't have level ** so I don't know, but if he somehow did manage to use another weapon when the blood drinker was thrown, what would it do if it couldn't put itself back in his hands?

normally it doesn't let you do anything else while it is flying but there was a lot going on in that server at the time in the middle of combat could be it lagged a little and I was able to cast the spell before the protection came up.

Well, the weird thing about all of this is, the weapon never *actually* leaves your hands.

What it does, is switch the viewmodel to fists, and create a special "blooddrinker" NPC which runs around and chops stuff up - passing XP/health back to you.

Given that there are other weapons that, essentially, do all these things (change viewmodel indexes, summon NPC's that pass XP), why this should this ever make the blood drinker vanish from inventory is a bloody mystery.

Even if you managed to put the weapon away, and pull out another, before the Blood Drinker NPC could report its return, it shouldn't affect your inventory in anyway.

...The problem is, at least, a lot less common now than it was when the BD was born... Still a total mystery though.

On that note I noticed it didn't give me any xp using the BD throw.

I know what happened! He DROPPED the sword in a poor attempt at THROWING the sword, and simply never noticed. He then left it on the ground, and then came to post about it! Problem solved.

I actually did come back after a short time say 30 sec and pressed X around the whole area just in case that happened but nope, it wasn't on the ground.

A note for sheder_east the portal seems to appear every time if you kill the orc archers and ice giant first.

so yeah something odd just happened in my server and 5 players had all their items wiped

What I saw is we votemapped to shender_east when it loaded my chars up I could only see the head on my main char (slot 2) I clicked on it and nothing happened. Didn't look like anyone else was able to get in so I killed and restarted the server. When we all joined back in we all had nothing.

New patch looks good. I may take up my old axes again to explore this new map.

So i noticed you had patched aleyesu with something so i decided to try it out.
I got stuck at lightning room. final skelleton dident spawn so i couldent get into boss room. Not sure if this was just a one time thing. To lazy to try another run. Maybe someone else try se if it works? :)

Last update for Aleyesu was November 2011... Tis just the Betapack has every change in it from the last full installer (DEC2010) until now.

Probably blame Door X failing to open on the usual anti-stuck bug we've been getting in this patch. It isn't always consistent, so it'd explain SD getting by fine. At least it didn't make his server implode and kill everyone inside.

one thing I did notice on aleyesu is that last door to the boss that used to shut and stay shut now just stays open.

Dwarven Bolts just blow up in your face when you use them with the Steam Crossbow.

Interesting... and horribly frustrating... Grrr...

edit: (hours of hacking later) - Think I got it... Maybe made the bolts a tad more predictable in the process...
