Actually a few people have said they do this to conserve space or whatever >.>

But from just memory, at the most it's somewhere between 3 - 5 people. All of which either haven't heard your warning, or didn't heed it.

I get the no free edicts error on helena after the bandits attack when it is just me. I don't have any bags within bags but I do have a bunch, the big sack, small sack, sheath, heavy weapon holder, quiver, etc. What if players had just one bag/sack/whatever that held all their stuff and didn't even have the option to buy more? I know that it takes away the current system and maybe some "realism" but then you completely wipe away the problem of that loop.

Also I have to imagine that archers are responsible for a lot of extra edicts with all of those arrows. Are arrows all the arrows they shoot edicts? Are arrows that players carry extra edicts? Also I still think it would be a good idea to compare the Oct Helena version to the Dec Helena version, especially in terms of entities. Also I still think it would be a good idea if we could get a list of where we've seen the no edict error. Take care.

There was a thread about banking

Picadilly made a thread a while back about banking and how great it would be if we could bank our items. I remember someone in that thread that said "Why use a bank when you can put a bag in a bag?". If many others saw that and thought it was a great idea to be able to carry more than the limit, then who know how many people are doing it.

Thothie, it would be excellent if you could manage to remove some entities in the map the_keep. That map is always about to crash, specially when fighting the boss.

maybe remove some torches?

I think in the case of Helena, what's going on, is that when all the bandits or orcs die, all the civilians start a loop to return to their spawn points at the exact same time, when really, it's only necessary for the shop keepers to do so. (Might also might not hurt to zap one or two wandering civilians.)

(Possible exception being when there are 3000+hp worth of players on the server and the bandits raid, as then I fear there are just far too many advanced bandits. - or when Orc and Bandit raid coincide - which is also dicey)

Yes, but they also remove themselves as soon as they land.

Not individually. I’m uncertain as to whether a stack of arrows does though. MSC seems to handle stacks of arrows as individual items with X# of ammo in it.

Oh there is a HELL of a lot more going on in the new Helena than in the… umm… “Previous” Helena. There never was much going on in that one. This one has two whole dungeons attached. I made the ogre area quite some time ago, before we had some clue what was causing the edict errors, and thus it could likely be stripped down a bit FX wise. The spider/ghoul area, however, was carefully constructed to create a minimum amount of edicts. Hopefully that end isn’t causing any problems, save when players are actually down there during a bandit raid or what not.

Being poisoned by bandits (archers I'm pretty sure) is displaying as "You have been EFFECT_DESC_ED", or something like that.

Lostcaverns chest is also broke, got GIVE_PRIZE 1 and no loot. Suspect it to be the same as all the other recent chests.

Script's fine... No loot AT ALL, or just no "good" loot? The lostcavern's chests are very random.

It is likely working correctly then. It is not an insane-high end map. Everything it does drop off triggers a GIVE_PRIZE test, and it can drop any of about 50 items, ranging from as n00bish as a Lesser Ice Blade to as epic as a Helm of Fire Resistance, dropping several such randomly generated items. Depending on the number of players about, the chests will generate between 3 and 9 such random items with increasing quality.

There was, for a time, a temptation to move all chests to this system to prevent certain game guides from being generated. Lots of the newer chests do use this system for at least some of their items. I think the Lost Caverns map’s are among the first to depend on it utterly.

Maybe it has something to do with instant-shot-instant-hit but instead of taking a chance of breaking Xbow's sniping ability, I think just droping the quiver to the intended player so he takes them directly from it as a workaround.

Another thing, I went to see some low levels playing on Thothie's server on edana, and doors were not opening, pits in the temple were not warping back up (stuck down there) and we could get in the merchant's square from the back (no push). I checked on my server and some others and it's all working fine so I guess something in the experimental stuff is causing it? Oh and I tried reloading the map too.

Edit : specified edana.

with the North Maul you can cast Blizzards with no mana.

Some spells are also fubared on Thothie's server, doors not working not only in edana but also in heras, I guess so are every func_rotating stuff.
Also there's no music playing anywhere :? .

All this is just about Thothie's beta server though. @ Thothie, if you need a tester to fix these things just IM me! :wink:

I forgot to mention (Anywhere) you can't buy bolts if you have an heavy crossbow.

All this seems to be the result of a server fubar. I really need to work out a plugin that resets the server when its empty for a bit. (Was wonderin why no one was playin suddenly)

Probably a result of swapping out the sc.dll without forcing a restart on the server.

Yeeeah… I’m still working on a way to fix that. Seems I’m having trouble getting gravity on bolts to adjust once they are in the world – meantime I suggest throwing them somewhere where there’s a low ceiling. ;)

Have you noticed effects lingering at 0,0,0 yet? Like fire sprites, orion mana balls, freezing spheres etc...

Was just about to report this one. It's pretty funny actually :p
In foutpost I was like "What the -" when I saw tons of Orion bow mana balls up in the sky, all centered at one spot.

That bug's been there since the beginning of time. ;)

Any projectile or blood shows up at 0x0x0 - sometimes they get stuck there.

has anyone else come across a monster that won't die? Two times now I have come across a non-killable monster. Once it was a skeleton the other a black hand archer.

It kind of ruins the game when I can't kill it... Specially when it has to be killed to continue the map.
