Bah, I dun see anything really off there... At first, I thought something was horribly wrong, as it's dropping letters and numbers here and there (like "hostprt" vs. "hostport" or "ms_reflec" vs "ms_reflect"), but then I noticed it did the same with my own condump, just not as often. Really weird - seems some Steam update has made condumps unreliable - which kinda worries me, as it makes me wonder if all HD writes have become unreliable - which would fux with MSC no end.

I thought this was a new computer though, what did you replace in this computer?

I notice you are using the standard HL ports for communications (cl 27005, sv 27015, mult 27025). Did you mayhaps forget to configure your network settings for your router when you setup this system? Maybe those ports are open for another fixed IP that this computer is no longer using?

I replaced the Motherboard, CPU, Video Card, and the Ram. I'm noticing I get an AirGCFG.exe error whenever I try to open the program up for my D-Link wireless network card. Do you think the problem could be because I'm using the wireless configuration wizard? I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling the D-Link drivers but I still get the same error. If nothing else works then I'm going to reformat and see where that takes me.

Oooooooh my, I hope I won't have these problems too since I haven't played since I changed the motherboard, graphic card, RAM and a brand new D-LINK wireless card on mine too... Odds are that we might have about the same kind of hardware right now. I'm also using win7 64 bits. Tempted to install the whole thing just to see if it could narrow down these problems, considering I might have the same. But no. I R lazy.

Did you reinstall your OS as a part of this process?

Do you have a fixed IP for your computer in your TCP/IP network settings?

Yeah I reformatted after upgrading.

I just reformatted again and still get the error. I'm going to assign myself a static ip and see what happens. I doubt it'll help.

I have a G31TM-P21, 4GB DDR2 RAM, Nvidia GT 240 (MSI), and an Intel ES400 2.7GHZ

Eh... I hate to tell you this, but without a static IP, and the router configured to open said ports, there's a good chance it won't work at all - or work intermittently - kinda like this.

If you remember the static IP for your previous configuration, use that one - the router's probably still programmed for it.

Yes, the following ports have been opened.
6003, 7002, 27000-27025.

I'm not sure what DMZ is but it's disabled on the router.

DMZ is "demilitarized zone" Your computer isn't protected at all by the router, it acts as if all ports were open at all time. I think.

You can turn off your brother's computer, and use his static IP? ;)

If that doesn't work, and turning DMZ mode *ON* doesn't work, and a direct connection doesn't work (bypassing the router [remember to set IP to "Automagically Obtain" first]) - then... As I've done so many times before... I suggest sacrificing fresh babies to the Great Dark God: Gabe Newell.

I don't think he has a static Ip. We've never had to bother with opening ports and assigning static IPs when playing games. I tried turning on DMZ, didn't work. I don't have a cable long enough (and it probably wouldn't be a good idea to have it running down a hallway) to directly connect my computer to the router.

Bye everyone, you won't see me in MSC anymore. I guess I can still do some mapping but I won't be able to test maps or farm Umulak for easy experier----the great rewards anymore.

I think he'd *have* to, if you ever hosted a game, or you were both playing Half-Life games at the same time. Porting the puter over to the modem and hooking it up directly would at least tell you if a new network card might help.

Remember you can't just "open ports" though - they have to be opened for specific computers on the network.

There's also the "I'm damn paranoid" ports to open:
27005 - 27017 (HL Server/Client Ports)
47624 (DirectX Net port)
2300-2400
6500
1300-1400
2790
