In an effort to fight the people who have fun exploiting the game the server password will be changed come September 1st. The password when changed will be disclosed to any trusted member of the community and all server admins who run a proper server.

As community members it would be greatly appreciated if you could tell everyone you know of this news. The better the word gets spread the less of an impact it will be on the main servers that stay up.

I know this can cause complications for some people, but with security comes discomfort and right now we could really use more security.

If you would like to have the password in order to connect to FN, this is the place to request it.

If you do not receive the password via PM I have either decided you don't need it, or managed to forget to send it to you.

also please do not share the password with anyone, unless I give you permission.

I can't really host a dedicated FN server (one crappy 3.0 ghz CPU :/), but I can manage to host an FN listen server.

Previous point stands though - if we hand it out to everyone who posts, there's no point in the password. I'm not sure how to come up with a better requisit than "Oh yeah, we know you." though... It may come to gathering IP/ranges so as to recognize someone on the FN server who should not be, and/or only recognizing people who can manage to get their servers to appear on the Steam browser.

I too would like the password... I live in Taiwan and the pings from overseas can be more than a little unbearable. It's more enjoyable to be able to play on one's own server with some local friends that doesn't crash so much, kill me due to lag, or give me connection problems. I wish I could use my own server for farming, but as we all know, that next to impossible... just ask JM if you can farm for good loot nowadays by yourself.

I already have a few things I have started doing, some very scary things on my part but needs to be done.

anyone who wants the password is gong to have to now give me there external IP, Steam ID, and there user names. Of course only if I ask for it via PM if no one gets the request from me they aren't going to get the password.

I will have a very large list of steam ID's, user names, and IP address to track, being human I won't be as good if I just let the computer handle IP stuff, but at least it offers a bit more in depth control compared to just handing out the password.
