I would like the password.
I can understand why you wouldn't want to give it to me but the handful of servers that are up are either not updated or on difficult maps for a level 1.
I will try and make my listen server available to join but I haven't been able to in the past.

Here is my position and the position of ANYONE new to this game.
look for Master-sword server...
Either Full, or on a high level map.
Make listen server, don't have password to [FN] and must play crappy lan characters alone.
Blasto, you have stopped parry exploiters at the cost of KILLING any multiplayer growth of this mod.

For the record, not entirely Blastoâs idea â it was the only thing we could come up with. (I also don't think we're doing anything to stop parry exploiters).
I *hope* itâs temporary. Thereâs one hack Iâm fairly certain I can do nothing about though (since the proâs apparently canât either).
I think the following things will have to happen on the development end before we can go back to public FN passwords:
⢠Hard to break map verification thatâs easily adjustable script side
- Hope to have this ready and tested by OCT2007a
⢠AMX and plugin verification (We've some, but it's weak)
- The above requires that we finalize our AMX as well.
⢠A month of no new obnoxious cheaters
So far, of the new cheaters we do have (of which we have verified 2) don't seem to be using anything advanced, such as a recompiled source code or any major threat. Tis just standard fair plugins and cheatmaps, and one other common hack used in every Hl1 mod.
I havenât had the chance to go over the archives to see how many cheaters we actually have. Weâve only really verified 2 new ones, and the rest just seemed to be a slew of reports that followed the panic of the first, that didnât pan out. So it maybe a simple loss of confidence in the community at the effectiveness of FN keeping cheaters out, which is one of its major functions. In some ways, even if it is just two cheaters, community confidence in FNâs ability to keep cheaters out of the game is more important than its actual ability to do so. Thus, the drastic methods.
We do have MSC servers on just about every continent. (East/West USA, Europe, and Asia.) - We've none in Australia, but Aus and California are on a direct ND line, so the ping is tolerable. Only thing weâre lacking, really, is Latin America, and Central Asia, SFAIK. Not too many players from there (dunno if that has anything to do with a lack of servers.) (and before the wisecrack comes: I think those in the Antarctic are just SOL)

Pretty decent box tho, AMD5600+ 64X2 , 4 gigs of DDR2 ram, and so forth.

I already have a list of the people who have it, but I don't see any reason to make it public.
Im requesting the password because i can no longer play my server for somereason when i always try to play my listen server it says connection to the central server has been broken and i for somereason cant play on any other servers buty my own with out high ping :S
