I boosted them to maybe level 30'ish mini-boss level. Figuring there's three of them. I can get ye another sc.dll in a jiffy.

I put it down to two of them. Once I test the strength of these new bosses, I'll decided if I'll up it to 3 of them again. I'll be waiting for that sc.dll plez. :wink:

How about a reward, do you want me to put a chest down somewhere or shall I wait till I have an npc so he can give out the reward? (I'll pm you sometime about what I want him to say...)

Chests are always easier, it'll depend on how hard ye make this map.

I think they just need a bit more hp Thothie. I solo'd the map easily (With a hammer I won't name but it stats with b and ends with ludgeon)

Damage seems to be alright. I'm thinking I'll have 3 of them in there and they will all start by each other. :mrgreen:

Wow... I hit these guys like a few times, then they cloak, and I never find em again... But alright... You could toss in an endless rain of regular gloams into the map until the ether gloams are killed. Would certainly keep the players busy.

I think you can already forget about any level 25's on your map, certainly after this increase. Not that I really think that it's possible to balance for 25 to 40.

When I was fighting them, I got them like to half health and they ran. I quickly ran in the direction they went and when they uncloaked I finished em off. Sometimes I even get them to 1 red bar left before they decide to run. Did you make it random or something? Also my map isn't THAT big. Just run around for a bit and you should be able to find them again.

I may make some spawns for normal gloams then...Make it like a big battle in the forest. :)

Gloamerrific...

Been including the script source together with the alphapacks. They cloak every 25-30 seconds after the first time they are struck, or when more than two players start gang banging them (the last bit being theoretical).

But seriously, yes, I knew all that, but I still thought they were the same thing. I thought the isles of Dread were surrounded by all that fun stuff. If they are separate continents, I blame Lanethan for using 'Dread' too much >_>;;

I don't think the Isles of Dread were Lanethan, but some other dev just thinking up names for island maps. I *suspect* whoever it was was inspired by the D&D moduel, but I've no direct proof other than the names match up.

Just a quick question for you people who are watching this topic. Would any of you be able to host a little dedicated server sometime so I can test the map on a dedicated? (I really hate testing on a listen server all the time.) :twisted:

So yeah, anyone got a dedicated server or something?

Anyway back to talking about the map again. Thothie, I have got rid of that whole top level and I've started to work on polishing it up some more. I'll have to send ye a newer version sometime.

Bah, I only used Dread on Dreadwind. All the other Dread stuff you can blame on someone else.

But no, Dreadwind is supposed to be the endgame stuff. Isles of Dread was somebody else's idea.

Suggestion: Stop badgering him. Thothie's a big boy and is capable of finishing scripts. When he finishes them, he's not going to hide them. He will give them to you.

With the exception of your gloams, I've had no time to get to any of your scripts thus far. If I'm lucky, I'll get to them before the end of the month.

maps looking good so far bro, only thing i'd change are how big the firs is (logs and what not) and that little clip where the land goes from sand to grass, its kinda like a speed bump there :p

Update: Thothie, I have added the npcs in and I did a quick test of the npcs in the spawn. Since I made a mistake, I wasn't able to bring the Gloam Slayer into the forest to help me fight. Will test it once I have a new version ready. Also, In is speech, I noticed when you say 'gloams' to him while he is in battle mode, he'll say 'cought of tought' in that speech. I think it's supposed to be 'could of taught' by what he says. Also, when he talks about 'gate/wall' I just want to let you know I changed that. If you look in the most recent picture (two posts above) you should be able to see the 'spear wall' in there. Just change his speech and get him to call it a wall and that should be fine.

When will you be able to test the map and everything Thothie? I can have a (hopefully) final version out soon if you require it. I would like to finish up working on this map soon since 'RL' might take most of my time away again. :(

I can actually rig the Gloam Slayer to ignore monsterclips.

As for changes to the speech - feel free to make any you desire and send the script and send it back. I don't have your map, so I'm not sure what yer on about.

As for testing, I'll be lucky to see my main rig, or even my laptop in person for the next few days, ye may want to gather with Rickler or J, and other folks who have or can be trusted with the alpha package.
