Re: Beta-package Update News & Discussion

Found something that needs to be fixed cause of pets.... the troll in heras has stone throw ability. So, a level 15 enemy has an attack that does 150dmg unshielded/low grade armor. Needless to say he managed to kill my pet before I could do much about it. He'd do the same to a player of his own level.

As for pets, I think it needs to be decided whether pets are going to be a mostly useless high risk low reward "show" item, or something more permanant and useful. I know it's just a test concept right now and it will be changed, but I would really like pets to be more than a token item to sink time into. The rez crystal would be nice, having the pet "grow" up into stronger versions of itself, or have certain pets that can change over time, and others that are strong to begin with but don't change. Just seems to me there's tons of potential here that you've already proven, it just needs to be acted on in later patches.

Re: Beta-package Update News & Discussion

That's not a bug, that's just the fact that stone lobbers pwn wolves. ;)

I like the evolving thing... almost got the pokéballs done too. ;)

Re: Beta-package Update News & Discussion

I've seen that veil, wtfboulder attacks do upwards of 200 damage before armor. And thats just from trolls.

Also the inability to dip into your inventory when stunned/frozen really makes stun happy enemies a lot stronger. Now when an orchish chainstunner (read: Brawler) gets you stunned up close you can no longer raven and maybe stumble away to safety instead you have to endure a series of drunks/stuns until someone else pisses it off or it kills you.

Re: Beta-package Update News & Discussion

You can pull out tomed spells while stunned/sitting.

Also, the wolves' base damage is 4.00, not 5.00.

Unable to inventory while stunned

Sadly all unavoidable side effects of the thrown weapon fix.

Meaning that you can use a spell even if it means you need to put something in your inventory. Said thing goes to the inventory and the spell activates.

Re: Beta-package Update News & Discussion

Yeeah... I'll have to fix that too.. Otherwise one could lose a thrown weapon while trying to pull a spell... in theory.

Re: Beta-package Update News & Discussion

On the beta server you should be able to "store" (unsummon) your pets on the player menu (F11), in addition to some anti-cliff stuff and more aggressive following.

Re: Beta-package Update News & Discussion

These patches are great, as usual, but I'd be all for the June patch just being optimizations and cpu usage reduction so I could play without getting a 3 second lag spike every 15 seconds. This game destroys my computer. The only other game that does that is Crysis, which isn't worth playing.

Re: Beta-package Update News & Discussion

More hotkeys would require a Character wipe, IIRC.

Re: Beta-package Update News & Discussion

I don't *think* so - I think they are stored the same way quest data is... Might mean changing the way the server interpets them, I dunno.

Shurik3n would know... Figures I finally get his sword in game and he vanishes. ;)

I think there needs to be a scroll that lets you get like 25-50% speed increase for us people without speed potions or ravenmaces it's annoying trying to get to that one spot in SFOR that I need for that *spoilers removed* quest.

and no I can't just drop my stuff 'cus I don't wanna

:oldshock: My sword :oldshock:

Might have to play today to try out this summoning business, don't think I'll have enough patience to farm shard though.

Characters are loaded to memory, then when they are saved the info is recompiled from memory and sent to FN/saved. So you shouldn't have to rollback to add quickslots, just add more to be loaded and saved. If its done right it shouldn't mess anything up  .

JUN2008a PUBLIC CHANGELOG:
• You can now store your pets safely out of the way by unsummoning them (F11 menu, or click on the pet)
• Pets level up a bit more like players now
- Pets require the creature they kill has at least 1% of their XP
- So you can only level up on rats so long before you must move on to boars, etc.
• Pets anti-suicide system
- Pets teleport to player if they fall. They also stick to the player a bit better than they used to, and have slightly improved navigation
• Support for Isle by CSS
• Open support for future maps
• Several training sploits patched up (both for pets and people)
• XP multipliers on Lodagond are nixed, and the better treasure shifted to the end.
• Parry is capped at 40
- This should cut down on parry whoring, and serve as a go-between step for removal of the stat
- This will also allow very high level characters to alter their title, pending title system
• ...and the usual 100,000 changes I'm not bothering to list

This SHOULD be a server side patch, and thus optional for clients who already have MAY2008a. It is, however, required to host MSC.

This is a pathetic little last patch that should address some critical issues, but is much less extensive than I had in mind due to my lack of regular access to Steam.

There was a tiny issue with the patch that prevented scrolls from working, but it seems to have been fixed and updated on all links as of this post.

If ye downloaded the patch before 6am PST, please clear your net cache and re-download.

If you see a speaker icon in the corner, that is the FN status icon, not working right.
