gosh the first complaints about security :O thought this would have happened ages ago :p

Anyway with the new way of things hopefully the password won't change very often for certain groups. This will lessen the security "burden" on them. Lets face it this game was designed to be multiplayer from the start with big ambitions and little regards to security in the beginning. Now that the game is finally getting some where people are going to want security, and just like any security (how many like VAC?) people are going to hate it.

love it or hate it, its going to stay. That is if someone doesn't takes over FN and changes everything.

It's so funny reading some of these complaints ;-)

For one, people act as if there are thousands of hoops you have to go through to get a password.

1. http://www.whatsmyip.org
2. status in console. For one, you have to do this to test maps, so it's not like some crazy new thing that most of the community hasn't done anyway.
3. Character name, I believe? Please. If you don't know your name, you should probably uninstall. ;-)

Second, you don't need the damn password to play the game, just to play on your own server. Quite frankly, Thothie will make the game entirely multiplayer eventually, anyway.

I know. I prefer MORPG to SRPG. I was saying that MS:C is a MORPG, therefore anyone wanting to play it SP is SOL, for the most part. ;)

And ceriux, the security is the password. We have the password so people don't create their OWN SERVERS where they HACK. How long is this going to take you to understand?

...Wow... How would, say, I ban you from my server (with AMX) if you're hacking on YOUR locked server, and how would that solve anything...?

Moreover, if you haven't noticed we don't catch the cheaters on the dot, it takes investigations. The repair of the damage caused by hackers distributing hacked items like candy is also an issue. They can do this on their server, with their friends, who then spread their stuff out to their friends, and so on and so forth...
You get what I am saying.
Also, regarding a singleplayer mode; Thothie hates the idea of the mod being singleplayer, and I believe he has said this on many an occasion. So, to reiterate, do not gripe and complain about a lack of singleplayer mode if you're not able to contribute to your own cause.

We don't know. Ask DrKill and Tehrilez, though good luck getting them to tell you. ;)

Make sure you request the password. It'll change in about 72 hours but you'll get the new one in a pm.

I agree with this suggestion. It's such a shame that some of the server hosters out there forgot how to use amx_ban...

Suppose you're a lame ass cheater, altering your character in your locked [FN] listenserver. As soon as you come in-game, people report you, your STEAM_ID leaks out, and all the server admins ban you. Or at least, that is what should happen.

Hackers can hack all they want, as long as they just stay out of public servers. How? Ban them. It's that easy.
When hackers can't brag about their mega stats and their L337 items, the game will become boring for them. I see this as a direct solution to all the hacker problems we've ever had. Ban them.

I always put anyone who's caught for hacking in my ban list. I should start doing suspected hackers, though if I did that, I never would have seen Primarch (Dark force's hacked char) and told Blasto about it.

Then again, I think he already knew, but I just sped up the investigation.

I'd rather let Blasto argue this point. But I feel it needs to be stated.

Under the current system, hackers not only stop hacking our game, but to continue hacking, they would have to pay REAL MONEY to create a new steam ID if blasto bans them that far. We can keep catching them again and again until they stop being so obvious and down right stupid and make them keep paying for what they do.

Them hacking on their own server on FN can still produce items and if nothing else, can spread the information on how to hack around. Am I the only one who seems to wonder what the hell would happen if adventurer kept his mouth shut, and quietly recruited a few people a week to give hoarfrost, phoenix armors, stab helms, and hacking capabilities out to?

People are corrupted by greed, even if it is over E status. For some people the whole part of playing online games is being the biggest and the baddest. He could have completely cut out the few people we get per month that keeps this community "fresh" by spreading what he knew how to do.

I don't like the fact that we only occasionally have a good list (8 or so) of servers. However, I do like the knowledge that noone on the servers right now is killing the game, and if they are, they will be caught and denied that ability without having to spend actual money.

to be secure, or not to be secure that is the question... :p

Did you know the only way to make this mod 100% secure would to not let anyone play.
