They don't buy these items for their own pleasure, they buy them to get an e-peen enlargement. They always have to be superior to the other guy.

A.K.A. for a pleasure they see fit.

You do realize that's how nearly the entire world economy works. The whole thing would instantly collapse if we only bought that which we need, or at least the price of those things we need would skyrocket exponentially, so we'd have to go into debt to acquire the most basic of necessities (more so than we already do).

There are entire towns in third world countries that live on a combination of modest internet access and the ability to resell MMORPG characters and items (such as WoW gold). Everquest and WoW gold have a better exchange rate than many popular real-world currencies. In the case of Silk Road On-Line, it actually eliminated the need for players almost entirely - being populated almost entirely by bots, their owners enhancing their intended for-ebay-sale character projects with the occasional exclusive purchased item (purchased with real cash via their market system) in hopes of making their sale more appealing. They do so just often enough that Joymax can make a profit running a game where less than 5% of the players in the world are real human beings, thus, unlike most MMORPGs, they make next to no effort to prevent "botting".

Strange times we live in, and they promise to only get stranger. :|

Even I don't know...
Umm, why would someone buy stuff to look better in portal2 even to make themselves look "cool" ??? after you beat the game on co-op and single player there is nothing but the same puzzles... the ones that you have already beat... to play again, and again... and again....... -.-

I enjoyed it for the early 00's GIF, and our unofficial national anthem on repeat.

11:16 - J-M v2.5.5: I actually managed to convince Stoned yesterday that the US Navy SEALs did a DNA test on Osama bin Laden, but they used RNA instead, so the test failed,
11:16 - J-M v2.5.5: and *then* I managed to convince him that they didn't shoot Osama bin Laden, but a guy called Osama fin Laden, a local fisherman
11:16 - J-M v2.5.5: and he fell for that, too
11:16 - [rEd]Orichalcon: hahahah
