I need to know what socket my processor uses. Pentium 4 processor 550, supporting HyperThreading, core speed 3.40 GHz, FSB speed 800 MHz, 1 MB L2 Cache.

3DMark06 Pro v1.0.2 says:
Socket 478

Intel.com and just about every other site on the web says:
LGA775

And with 'about every other site on the web' I mean everything that pops up if you search for "pentium 4 ht-550 socket" on Google... including a page on Wikipedia that has a massive list of Pentium 4 processors... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_In ... processors

But still, I have to be absolutely sure. 3DMark06 is mostly wrong, telling me it's Socket 478, but I have to be sure. Socket 478 or LGA775?

Thanks, dude!

And about pulling it off and look... I have this really, really ****ing crappy case that is way too small, hard to open, and lacks good airflow. Especially the way-too-small part makes it a huge task to reach through all the cables and stuff to remove the processor fan, cooling block, and processor.

Fortunately, I am probably going to buy this awesome case:
http://www.thermaltake.com/product/Chas ... 000swa.asp
The Thermaltake Armor VA8000SWA, silver, made of aluminium (without side fan I'm afraid... the version with the side fan (VA8003SWA) is nowhere to be found).

From which countries do Newegg and Amazon ship their products?

I'd like something in the Benelux (the Netherlands, Belgium or Luxembourg).

But thanks for the help, of course :D

Actually, I'd be thinking a 478 socket too, especially if it's more than 2 years old... But what's your motherboard called? That'd be the kicker right there.

'course, if you're thinking of replacing it - you're going to have to tear it appart anyways.

just so you know amazon will ship to the netherlands, the items they ship there you would have to look up. All I know is they will, I can keep looking, I bet I can find a company that will ship it to you.

Supports Intel® Pentium 4 Prescott LGA775 processors in LGA775 package.

For redundancy. LGA775 slot.

Guess it wasn't as old as I was thinkin.

My information.
Hmmm... MOBO's break easily if you touch them with a static-charged finger :)

So with that said: everyone who ignored the first thing I said, make your finger static-charged & poke the fuck outta your computer's hardware.
