No, it shall be a unique boss for this map, i was thinking of a living Jiro(Malgoriand before he got that name) that summons skeletons and you must make him flee to get reinforcements to defeat him.

He killed an apostle when he was blessed by Torkalath, and in turn by the lost, this is Jiro before he is blessed by Torkalath, actually Kurgoth should reach him once the fort you are defending belongs to him.

Lets just fight Kurgoth then, I mean, the nub was killed by somebody with like level 4 small arms anyway.

Kurgoth is not the one that was killed by a kid, he is the apostle of torkalath
at least thats what Lanethan says.

Many problems with this…

First off, it crashes like mad. I can’t get much past the "front door is under attack!" sequence without crashing (four tries). WAY too many active monsters about at the same time.

Tis also strange that the front door is under attack – and yet baddies burst out of this door – not quite sure, are we defending the fort, or trying to keep things inside of it? Cuz things are pouring out all over, and coming in from the outside as well.

Granted, despite the fact that they are popping out all over, yer perfectly safe to reign fiery death on some 50,000xp worth of baddies from the battlements. My [FN] character could really use a free XP his spells and archery like this. Easylevels2 wouldn’t do him nearly so well.

So to deal with the fact that it’s basically a cheatmap for nubs (hell, a level 1 with fireball could spend quite a bit of time here, killing mid-level skellies, with no danger to himself) – yer going to have to add some SERIOUS aerial assault. Either in the form of some nut job archers (which I think is out, as I doubt any of our archers could aim that high, plus you’d have to use the race tags to make em play nice with the army of darkness you have down there) – or flyers. We’ve some eagles in MAR2008a (maybe I can reskin a quick nasty blood hawk variant and demon race it) – but other than that, yer more or less down to horrors… Some of the shamans might be able to hit the players up there… Orc poisoners (dq/voldar) could hit them, and get horrors of their own going, but it wouldn’t play nice with the undead unless you added “params” “demon_race” or some such. You could also just plain spawn stuff right on the battlements periodically to wash the players off (mini-bludgeon anyone?). Hell, use the Vermicular (monsters/lightning_worm), if yer feeling nutty. Or, if yer feeling nuttier, you can use hpmulti and dmgmulti to make some uber dragon flies spawn up around there (dragonfly’s are, for some odd reason, race undead by default – guess to play nice with the other sfor folks).

Speaking of which, yer spiders and yer undead are getting into fights. You need to demon_race the spiders.

Then there’s a lot of crap like this:
fubar.jpg

No, those skeletons aren’t dead – they’re just stuck in stuff. You need to either a) spawn monsters between such obstacles and the players, or b) do some serious ripenting and monsterclip this stuff by moving other brushes to it.

Wander around the map and use the XYZ console function when figuring out how to place monsters, it is much more accurate than using Half-Life’s status command or what not. If yer on a slanted surface, use the center point instead of the floor (but beware monsters + slants = bad).

Add lag to that, and it becomes a slip'n'slide(I honestly don't know why this happens, when a server is laggy, the monsters tend to slide around a lot with kicks or when they walk down slopes, then they can't walk back up)

Strange, i got no crashes when playstesting it, the only problem i noticed is that some skeletons gets stuck in the big rock.
Also when the front door is under attack the door explodes and the skeletons storm inside the castle.
I still dont think this was ever meant to be a cheatmap, anyway a way to fix the matter with the skeleton that can be exploited is simply to give them all a ranged attack.

Also im not adding horrors(the last two were placeholders) or orcs(did not even exist back then) also i doubt goblins took part in that battle, to add more flyers i need undead hawks, or something like that...and again some new skeletons variants that shoot projectiles out, maybe something that shoots an ethereal projectile that goes through walls if you are too close.

How about catapults having the sniping spots as primary targets?
Oh nevermind they're not orcs :?.
Maybe make the wall break or something like in foutpost, to force melee players to defend the snipers's spot, but that would require too many things that makes the lag worse imo...

A wall does break, and i find it hard to change too much since its a ripent job, if i had the source it would be much better...and id add monsterclips around that rock.

I've a half-assed mage floating round here, if Thothie will script it, I'll finish the model. Meantime, use a placeholder or somethin.

I've done work on this since I took that picture, it has a pauldron of sorts on the right shoulder now, and the robe blends right.

I do not think I have that model. ...I'd also have to think of something cheeze and quick, as I'm just flooded with scripts and mapping work at the moment.

eagle2.jpg

Good news is that the eagle script is done, and I tossed on a few extra skins, including this one. It would only need a few lines to give it maybe some push, fire damage, holy vulnerability, etc. to make a demon hawk or some such good for cleaning those battlements. There's a stone, ice, and plague skin variants as well, (and a slot for a pheonix) but I don't think I'd take the time to make them all just now. I got two sfor maps, and a bunch of lodagond and undamael related scripts to do, on top of some new items to work out, so my plate is more than full.

Well i think we need the plague hawks since this is an undead invasion not a demon.
This was before Malgoriand had business with torkalath.

Well lorewise no...undead = necromancer work... thus skeletons, zombies and so on.
demons = evil fel creatures, horrors, kharaztozrant children, and such things.

If you can make the model and the anims, feel free. Vomica never even made his lantern mining dwarfs - much less gave us the map he was working on so we could get the mining system moving.

Sorry to revive this post, but I noticed it the first time, was gonna say something about it, then forgot about it. I was looking through this thread again and I want to emphasize that I'd love to have a trade-skill system up. Maybe, once I get my ass on MS3D again, I can see what I can do about, at least, the model.

Also, is this gonna be another Torwhodoc map?
