Something that can be in a future patch perhaps?
Idea is called WinterCleaver, proposed general freeze chance on hit and on red charge leap attack encase enemies in ice!



PM me on how to get the model file v_2haxesgreat.mdl,
and I couldn't get it to work in the P_weapons3.mdl as a Dragon Axe temporary replacement,
kept getting a triangle reversed error with three coordinates... then milkshape crash. Oddly enough it kept doing this on
the fshard_rhand.smd which is right before the fshard_floor.smd which is right before the dragonaxe_rhand.smd in the .qc sequence. Anyways, I'm also gonna do a blunt, either a vampyric like blood blunt, a fire blunt (because darkmaul sux, too heavy, too much stamina), a lightning blunt, or a venomous blunt.

I like your weapon there, but i got to admit i don't like the looks of the blue'ish part in the handle :?



EDIT:
For the 4 listed options up there, i would say either the fire hammer or the venomous/acid hammer has a priority! Then i would see the vampyric has a lvl 30 blunt weapon and the lightning one would be "meh" like the lightning rod.

Excellent design, the imaginatve design makes up for anything bad it might have.

Thats because you need a better compiler, since normally you couldnt compile such a big file. Either that or the model pushed the file to the limit where it doesnt compile.

Wait I figured it out. I did not assign the WinterCleaver to the same bone that the dragon axe was when I created the .smd I'll get some third person pics up. Also I changed it a bit at the handle and the blade. And thanks, I digg all of your work too :)
--- and on another thought, super red charge (beyond the leap attack) could shoot a decent damaged frostbolt, say 100 base :wink:

Still cant get that darn P_weapons3.mdl to compile. I assigned the dragonaxe_rhand.smd to the bone Bip01 R Hand and I assigned the dragonaxe_floor.smd to the Bip01, and I still get this "triangle reversed" error in the middle of compile :|

Try this compiler. p_weapons3.mdl is getting pretty stuffed though - it maybe it's hit the texture limit, which causes odd behavior, even in this compiler. Otherwise all the p_weaponX's would be in one model.

Don't really want compiled models though. Need SMD/BMP's (and QC's if you've added new anims). Decompiling models tends to result in slight texture shifting or clipping. Will need consolidate'able viewmodel SMD's as well, of course.

If you want to be kind, performance wise, it maybe wise to reduce the poly count on p_models vs. the viewmodel. It's not seen as close up, so it doesn't need to be as detailed.

Ok, I can get you all the component files for the model. It was based on the standard two handed axes model, no new animations. I directly replaced my Dragon Axe with it for testing :oldlol: I'll try compiling the P model with that compiler and just see what it looks like.
Just curious about goldsrc here: why reduce the poly count on the p model? Is it solely to make things run faster or is there some sort of hard limit that gets approached. -- The reason I ask is because in several Doom Hunt tests I have jammed almost 250+ models into a map that were all above 10,000 polys, with some that were 40,000, and I had no performance hinderance. But then again I do have 2GB of video ram and 8GB of system ram :p Anyways I could simplify the icicles If I had too, but as it sits right now I think the axe only has about 3200 polys... It all fit into one .smd
Is it just to be considerate of those less fortunate with their computer specs than others? Most everyone should be able to run at least six goldsrc games in the background by now what with source and all. :oldlol:

Also: Was the Beak of Thoth going to be some comical blunt weapon Orochi proposed or something?

Also: Hmmm venomous blunt thing and vampyric blunt are tied, but its true the bludgy kind of already covers the vampyric side of things a bit. I'll let it get more votes and see...

We've had several users here, run this game because it's one of the last few they CAN run, with money and life dictating more important things than a computer purchase. That, and you still have to account for people on laptops with neutered graphics cards, with a single core running at ~2ghz (remember that MS:C/Gldsrc is not multi core aware). So the closer we stay to spec, and friendly for all, the better. Also, MS:C is hardly the most optimized of games. There are/used to be enough hacks/workaround/etc in this game to make Chinese code monkeys blush.

^ What he said. (And, as he aluded to, the fact that even some of the cutting edge graphics cards now have performance issues with the dieing OpenGL standard, that is constantly under assault. I would not be surprised if the next Windows release put an end to the standard.)

2000 poly viewmodels are fine, but the p_model should really be simplified, if at all possible.

Also this thing looks more like an axe than a hammah to me, but meh, whatevah.

It is an axe Thothie, blunt already has North Maul. Blunt is just what I might make next. Also, that compiler worked beautifully! I think I am going to darken the blue a bit also... placement of the axe needs adjustment too, notice its not actually in Bleg's hand!



You don't like the model Thothie?

Love the axe model! It looks great and it'd be nice to see that in the game. Also even though my vote went to vampyric hammer the venomous doesnt sound bad either. Anyways good job Raider!

A darker blue texture has been applied... I like it better now. How is the best way to release? Just start attaching textures, .qc, and .smd to the forums? Also I want to know what you think about the axe besides that it looks like an axe Thothie 8)

Hes the mod leader lol. He made it for MSC, I have NO idea why he posted it in Doom Hunt. Possibly he will use it in Dewm Hunt as well.

Yes It shall be used in Doom Hunt also, as I am at liberty to do that with my creation, though it will not use the msc skeleton as pictured in doom hunt... only the axe mesh. Now can somebody please tell me the best way to release the source for this thing???

Just gather every file milkshape decompiled and put it into a folder and give it to thothie. that includes the bmps, smds, teh qc file. Make sure its consolidated with the right model.

Still not quite sure what this means but it comes off kind of harsh... :| As a suggestion next time someone devs a free model for msc try not to scare them off mkay?
And I was posting the images as I was dev'ing the model, its not like I'm gonna release incomplete source for you, so hopefully that wasn't too irking. I guess you could say I was looking for a nice pat on the back from you, but I really could care less for your through-the-internet-forum approval, rofl I still have a real life too!

Anyways no harsh feelings here. Enjoy the axe and please not make it teh sux, its supposed to be a high level axe :)

Also: The venomous blunt and vampyric are still tied... hmmmm. As a very loose concept I was thinking that the vampyric would have these kind of inverse conical bloody saw blade things that could spin on the model, and be pushed into enemies grinding teh life out of them! And my loose concept on the venomous was either a snake head thing that could bite when it strikes... or some crazy blunt with needles on the front and additive tubes all over pumping green venom stuff up to the needles. Lets break the tie guys!

God damn, i want a venom blunt weapon! There aren't so many of them venom weapons in game that are good >_<
And yes i know a Vampyric hammer would be more usefull than a venom, but i still don't qualify that has a good reason...

I see 2 options:

1) Try making something that could involve both effects if this is possible? Like the northmaul, have mouse2 to switch the side of the hammer you hit with, but you could do it with vampyric + venom when switching sides, say it would be a cursed hammer. :wink:

2) Make both of them LOL. :D


PS: Someone should work out on a bludgeon axe, muahaha! :roll:
