Bow boss + speed pot = players raped.
Logical fact.
Like what the hell? Speed pot is supposed to increase moving speed not allow the boss to shoot like 5 craps which are 3 times bigger than him at you in 1 second.
If thats gonna stay then make so the usable speed pot will increase the players attack speed.
Edit:
My server had fat lagg, especially when people used glow, i had to make them turn it off to play normal :|
Someone said i can be trusted and could play whit em, but in the end it dose...er i mean in the end they played in a passworded server.

I'm not experiencing any lag whatsoever in this map, which indicates a job well done. The map looks very good and it doesn't lag, at least for me, so thumbs up again Littlefrodo

And now I post my boss experiences in the order in which I encountered them because I like this map so much:

Plevmus - killed him, found flamelick and bone blade
Xaron - gave up
Xaron - gave up
Xaron - killed him, found Elven longbow
Demonicus - killed him, found perfect skullblade and fire immunity potion
Plevmus - killed him, found perfect Hugger dagger

As you can see I encountered that Xaron bastard three times in a row and I have yet to see half of the bosses.

Edit: And yes, what Tirex said. Bosses using potions is fine (and who am I to say it is not) because it adds to the challenge, but bosses cheat:
- First of all, they drink "poitions" :p sorry, couldn't resist noticing
- Secondly, when a boss drinks a "potion of protection", he gets 50% damage reduction. Now I don't know about you people, but when I drink a potion of protection, I only get 25% damage reduction (and 60% for greater protection by the way). Either make it 60% damage reduction and make sure you tell players what potion a boss is really drinking, or lower the protection to 25% so it realistically reflects the potion the boss is supposedly drinking.
- Last but definitely not least, as Tirex noted, a potion of speed is supposed to make you move faster, not attack faster. Stop making the bosses attack faster, or let us enjoy the same privilege.

Please?

I played the map for a while yesterday and the bandit boss that shouts "get over here" or something flinged me up to where the archers are. I got out of the castle and to the transition. I'm not sure if this is actually supposed to be possible so I thought I'd mention.

Also, I checked the r_speeds outside the castle and the wpoly count at one point was over 1900. That's quite a lot but at least it wasn't a battle area. If the r_speeds are high in other areas too, that could be causing the fps problems people are talking about.

Also a minor detail: there were some rooms that had the same texture as floor, walls and ceiling. It would look nicer if the floor and/or ceiling had different textures but I can live with this.

Other than that it seems to be an excellent map. Very big, interesting and detailed. Great work!

Orion bow is pretty damn sad... I don't think archery level even counts in the damage calculation. Jaggeds are better, unless maybe you've got 30 SC then you can go ahead and use Orion.

Like to see you hit a dozen orcs with one Jagged. It's not terribly useful for individual targets, but it can hit hordes of monsters, if you use it right. Tis ideal for Foutpost, and the like, and nothing is immune to it (save Maldora, who's just immune to magic in general).

Granted, it's not as effective as it is in the hands of Xaron, but no weapon is as effective in the hands of a player as in the hands of the boss that wields it, and of course, unlike Xaron, you don't have 3000hp, so obviously he's higher level. ;)

msc_wiki said:
The original Orion bow was a weapon of the Apostles used in the battle against Lor Malgoriand. It was shattered into thousands of splinters before the end of the battle. Each Orion bow in use today contains one splinter from the original Apostle weapon. These bows are extremely rare and extraordinarily powerful. One was stolen from the Hall of Deralia during a particularly daring bandit raid.

Each Orion Bow has the capacity to channel energy directly from the user to form magical spheres of pure mana that both blind and damage enemies. The more energy placed into the bow, the larger and more damaging the sphere will be. Spheres that contact enemies directly will 'burst' from the impact, however, so it is best to attempt to fire said energy spheres to the left or right of enemies. The bow is most effective when dealing with large numbers of foes.

Orion Bows cannot use standard arrows and cannot be worn. They must be placed in a Weapons Strap, Quiver of the Archer, or other suitable container.
Bow boss + speed pot = players raped.
Yer best bet for dealing with the speed pot is to stun or freeze the boss asap. Tis one reason you want to keep the ice spells in reserve. Yer only other option is try to do a lot of damage really fast so it wears off.

Another hint: If you see a boss drinking a potion, and can whack him hard enough in a single hit before he finishes drinking it (>100hp), he may flinch and drop the potion.

- Last but definitely not least, as Tirex noted, a potion of speed is supposed to make you move faster, not attack faster. Stop making the bosses attack faster, or let us enjoy the same privilege.
Ya know that secondary dagger attack the players use? It's supposed to make you attack faster. Sadly, monsters attack faster with a frame rate increase, but players do not due to the way weapons register - I've yet to figure a way around this.

In anycase, a potion that just increases movement speed is fairly useless for a boss NPC. Just means he gets to you faster, and 9/10, your going to him anyways. (Also totally useless for Xaron, who doesn't approach so long as yer in range.)
hmm, thats not so good but it istnt so bad becuase the only thing u can do up there is to kill the archers
Hmm... Didn't think of that... May just need a player clip just a bit out from the loft to prevent that. Sometimes that little mortal-kombat move they do pulls you right past them and throws you into a wall. Velocity adjustment in half-life is not an exact science, evidentally. ;)
Also, I checked the r_speeds outside the castle and the wpoly count at one point was over 1900.
Most r_speeds issues are caused by the map being off-grid a lot. Structurally, however, the map is good. No overlapping brushes, or boxed areas, or anysuch, insofar as I recall seeing. There are a few areas that are too open, but you don't spend too much time in them, IIRC.

Very nice map, indeed.
Pretty good atmosphere, nice triggered events and the bosses are really some "big"wigs
Hoping this is not your last MS:Cmap :)

Littlefrodo, I'm just going to list a few more reasons why your map is so awesome:
- It looks good
- It has a good flow - in other words, you're not stuck in areas for long periods of time fighting monsters (ms_snow bear/boar part for example)
- It has those little touches that just make it right - such as the staircase plank that breaks
- It's very detailed - there are crates and vases and tables scattered around everywhere
- It's even more detailed than 'very detailed' - you even took the time to make ceilings in certain rooms look good
- The challenge is random - and you cleverly achieved this with random bandit spawners in most parts of the map
- It's almost flawless (but you should really fix that bug... and no I don't use it ><)
- The lighting is good. Appropriately lit and appropriately unlit in the right parts
- The rewards are awesome - I count thirteen rare weapons in total

Well, Demonicus seems to get harder as people join. It took us pretty long to kill Demonicus with 4 level 30+'s and then me and Killerlot took him way faster. By the way, Thothie has been playing way too much Mortal Kombat. (Scorpion = Demonicus)

EDIT: By the way, Nova blade and orion bow spawnchance is WAY too low. They should be either upgraded by alot or +spawnchance. Well, orion bow 'makes' the cut, i guess. But really, Nova Blade kinda blows, about 50 normal damage with 23 swords. But yeah, I suppose it's good against Skeletons. (for all of you that don't know, nova blade does great damage against undead) Overall, little, awesome map. It reminds me of a Dark Messiah town.[/b]

Ok I guess the Orion bow is alright in certain situations... but the fact that archery level means nothing to the bow's damage makes me sad...

According to thothie, there is no level for it. It's the MANA charge. Not lightning. Not anything, pure mana, But it stops at 40 mana so wtf? :? But if you had 280 mana, it would do crazy damage if you charged it fully. Thats probably why he put the limit of MP in. It's good for owning a stack of n00bs.

EDIT: He sent me to this http://www.msremake.com/wiki/index.php/Orion_Bow

It also hits twice when you shoot once
More, if you aim it right.

90dmg per max-size pulse, that makes it 180 damage per hit, minimum, to any number of targets in a fairly large cone.

It doesn't care what yer archery skill is, but it does add to it perfectly... Which really suprises me, the way it passes damage. Makes me re-think me theories as to what is wrong with the XP passing on the other stuff some.

In PVP you should be able to annoy the living crap out of a player by just rapidly shooting small bolts. It has a very fast ROF for those, and even if they do almost do damage, they blind just as well. ;)

his computer is pretty nice. but it lag him a lot when he plays on the_keep for some reason. If he is playing on other maps on my server he won't lag. The only 2 maps that lag him the most is bloodrose, and the_keep.... I think

bloodrose shouldn't lag him...for all its size, the wpoly and epoly stay well within acceptable ranges and unless you go around intentionally getting tons of monsters to spawn, there should never be more than 10-12 at a time...well under some other maps.

as for the_keep lagging him, i can see where it would - but it doesn't lag my computer and i don't hear anyone else complaining about it...if he's got a decent computer, he may want to consider running some antivirus and spyware/adware detectors on it :|

(AND STOP DOWNLOADING PORN DAMNIT [i had to say it])
