Yeah! Make it uber high! That has never been done before!
Here are some suggestions to make your map harder:
- Make a bossroom you can't escape from - revolutionary concept!
- Make sure your bossroom has tons of minions that keep respawning - amazing new idea by me!

Okay I'll stop here. Don't make it uber hard.

There is one major problem with mappers for this game right now: everybody wants to make his/her map the hardest map out there.

Make a map that's open ended, a map with quests.
The whole amazingly-hard-gauntlet-map thing is god damn boring.

So I voted "intermediate" because MS: C doesn't have enough intermediate maps.

It saddens me that Gurluas & Littlefrodo are going to destroy Nashalrath by making it uber hard.

Okay, in that case, I'll just grab the full list of upcoming maps:

Replica's remake of Crow's Skycastle: I hope he just rebuilt the map and kept the layout roughly the same. The screenshot he released tells me that at least the outdoor teleporter phase is the same. But then again, that's a tiny part of the map. Skycastle is one of the few great maps in this game, so I hope to god Replica doesn't fuck it up.

P|Barnum's armor map: I've only seen one screenshot of this and it didn't tell me alot. If this map is even close to Cleicert Temple in terms of gameplay, it will totally suck ass. P|Barnum, I'm counting on you to make it fun.

Nashalrath by Gurluas and Littlefrodo: This map is going to fail because Gurluas constantly says "wait 'till you see Nashalrath" when there are mentions of things being difficult. Almost everything Gurluas posts about Nashalrath indicates that it's going to be insanely hard.

Lodagond by Crow: If you can't escape from the bosses that are going to be in this map, it will most likely be a failure. Although I must admit that I am curious to see the map because I want to know how it looks. If the boss battles involve boss rooms you can't escape from, I say "failure". I've only seen the "uber reaver" and the Shahaddar orc chief (two out of the four bosses in Lodagond) in a clientside testmap in-game, and believe me; you don't want to be locked in a room with one of those. I don't even want to imagine what Maldora will be like.

Littlefrodo's unnamed side map for mid levels: This sounds promising because there is a lack of mid level maps in this game. Let's hope he doesn't screw up the bossroom like he did in The Keep.

The Badlands: Bahahahahahahaha! I suddenly remembered this quote:
"Welcome to the badlands, where dying to the surroundings steals your XP!"
MEGA FAILURE. MEGA, MEGA FAILURE.

Araneae mines: Vomica7 vanished, but the screenshots told me the map looked good. I have no idea what kind of gameplay he had in mind, though. But I hope it wasn't the same old boring gauntlet shit.

The Unnamed Map by J: I actually betatested this twice and it's fun to play! Wow, the first map in this list of which I'm 100% sure that it's fun to play! Holy shit!!!

The verdict:
I'll try to say this clearly now:
There are a few big dumbasses in this community.
I won't say their names *cough*Pimpsta is one of them*cough*.
These dumbasses claim that every map is a cakewalk.
Other dumbasses fall for these claims and make maps that are so hard, they're not even fun to play.
Then there's a third kind of dumbass that wants to create a new map that will be "the hardest map ever".
But all of these dumbasses have one thing in common: they don't see the things this game really needs:
1) More mid level maps.
2) Maps with quests.
3) Maps with lots of quests.
4) NOT ONLY GAUNTLET MAPS FOR FUCK'S SAKE. MAKE A THORNLANDS STYLE MAP (but harder if you want to).
5) Maps that are fun to play. And apparently some people mistake 40 skeletons with 3000 HP each as "fun to play".

End of rant.

P's upcoming map has my seal of approval. The boss is really fun and not cheap in any ways. He has a really cool attack that will kill you dead, but its like the morc boss all slow so you can block it if you have the skills.

The 2000 base damage charge attack, right :mrgreen:

And yeah I've also seen this "Armor of the Fallen" in that clientside testmap of mine. Doesn't seem to be a cheap boss to me, so I'm hoping the rest of P's map will be good.

i plan to do that, its kind of a small area, i have a nice idea what happens aswell, as for the rest of the map, its one of those free roam maps where u can do what ever u want, explore or something but i will try to add some quests. (with thothies help of course.)

Shuriken and MiB seem to feel that Cleicert is now easy enough, now that it isn't suffering from the script bugs. I just hope it hasn't gotten too easy as a result, as the chests are now extremely generous if you have enough players around.

Barnum's map is just about done - I dunno how done because he keeps sending me sources with no BSP, and Ive not the time to compile. It does not look like too hard a map.

I'm downloading Replica's Skycastle now, I'm not sure if this is the final. It'll be a bit harder than the old Skycastle, which was designed with level 30 in mind (but level 30 ain't what it used to be). Should still have a big bear fest in the end.

J's map is insanely easy - but also insanely boring, because you spend far too much time waiting for baddies to spawn (tedious). I think some adjustable spawns would be very useful here. I've not heard from him in quite some time now, so I'm tempted to put it on the WIP block as 99% complete. I think his main goal was to add the Deralia boat to it, so it could be one of the Deralia destinations. However, it seems we don't have the real source for Deralia afterall. (I thought we did - but all we have is a decompile) So he'd have to rebuild the boat from scratch to do that.

That's true, but it's not as boring as the ms_snow boar/bear part, let alone pretty much the whole cleicert map.

I voted intermediate because high level maps, or hard maps, are rarely enjoyable.

Weren't real specific about the glitches - but I can't do a proper compile without the wads which are in the BSP.

So umm.. What's glitchy about it? (finding out the hard way now)

edit: At risk of dragging this further off topic, Barnum's map is looking pretty hard too.

...I will say, although I would like to see a lot more mid-level maps, it is the high end maps that get the most play. (And I personally love ms_snow, up to the ice elemental - where it starts to take too long for me to get back into the battle - teleporters people!)

proud of that cliff much? How did you make that cliff? Looks mid-levelish. But a change of textures should definitely be in order.

i am proud of it, although i can make better ones, i used clip texure with triangles (whole map is basicly triangles :D)

i also didn't take picturs of the caves or any more areas because i wanted to make it secret so u can explore more without saying " hey look its that area that i saw on the forums!"

EDIT: i'm gonna finish off the walls everywhere after i have done to make them look uber sexah. and also i'm gonna curve of that cliff so it will be extended
